Research Opportunities and Accolades

Employment and Internship Opportunities

Family full-time Teacher

Dear Prospective Teacher,
We are excited to offer this wonderful opportunity to join our family as a full-time homeschool teacher and curriculum developer! We are a close-knit family living in Gainesville, Florida and we are seeking a dedicated, passionate educator to guide our four children in a high-achieving, personalized education with thoughtful character development and values-based learning.
About the Students & Program
Our children will begin the 2026 school year in these grades:
– Kindergarten
– 2nd grade
– 3rd grade
– 4th grade
You’ll start with this multi-grade group (K-4) in a small, supportive setting and have the rewarding opportunity to design and teach a customized, progressive curriculum that grows with them over the next 12 years—covering elementary through high school. We may add up to two more students, keeping the group small for individualized attention and strong relationships.
Your Role
– Create and deliver a rigorous, academically excellent curriculum across core subjects (math, science, language arts, history, electives, etc.), with opportunities to incorporate positive values and character education.
– Adapt instruction creatively for multi-age learners, differentiating to meet each child’s unique needs and strengths.
– Plan and lead engaging field trips—local outings in the Gainesville area and North Central Florida, plus fully funded travel to inspiring destinations such as historical sites, museums, and educational experiences both in the U.S. and overseas.
– Work closely with us as parents to support academic progress, personal growth, and a nurturing learning environment.
Schedule & Compensation
– Full-time, year-round: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
– Generous Paid Time Off: 6 weeks total—including 2 weeks winter break, 2 weeks summer, shortened spring break and Thanksgiving, plus a few odd holidays and breaks that fall on weekedays.
– Starting Salary: $55,000 per year
– Benefits: Comprehensive health insurance + potential performance-based bonuses.
Outstanding Perks
– Covered Curriculum: We fully fund all materials—you choose or recommend what works best (e.g., high-quality programs like Abeka, BJU Press, Sonlight, or others that align with strong academics and positive values).
– Covered Professional Growth: Complete reimbursement for training, workshops, certifications, conferences, or any future development—no personal expenses!
– Funded Travel Adventures: All costs covered for educational field trips, creating memorable real-world learning opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
– Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred); elementary certification or eligibility is a plus.
– A commitment to positive values and character development in education.
– Enthusiasm for multi-grade teaching, innovative curriculum design, differentiation, and building meaningful connections with students.
– No prior teaching experience required—we warmly welcome new or recent graduates eager to start their career in a supportive, high-impact role!
This is more than a typical teaching position. You’ll have full creative freedom, a very small group for maximum impact, complete financial support for resources and your professional growth, exciting travel opportunities, and the chance to make a lasting difference in children’s lives through personalized, values-focused education.
If this opportunity excites you, we’d love to hear from you—especially if you’re a recent graduate from the University of Florida College of Education right here in Gainesville (your preparation in elementary education, innovative teaching, or alternative certification programs would be an excellent fit!).
How to Apply
Please email your resume, a cover letter describing your teaching philosophy and approach to character education, transcripts (if recent grad), and references to pk@westnetworks.com. We’re flexible on details and happy to discuss any relocation within the area if needed.
We look forward to the possibility of working together to support our children’s bright future!

MentorGNV-Be a K-12 Student Mentor

We are excited to announce that applications for MentorGNV are open for the Spring 2026 semester!

MentorGNV is an organization that provides mentors – in the form of UF students like you – for the students of Alachua County Public Schools. Our mentors volunteer in local elementary, middle, and high schools each week to serve as a source of continuous support, companionship, and empowerment for students in our local community. Mentors support their mentees academically, socially, mentally, and emotionally each week as they navigate school and life. We believe that by simply being there for our mentees, we can have a profound impact on their lives, and ultimately, on our whole community.

Our organization is open to all majors. Mentors volunteer at their assigned school each week for anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours. We work with your schedule and preferences to assign you a mentoring placement that’s right for you. We also create carpools by pairing mentors who have offered to drive others with mentors needing transportation to their school. Our mentoring divisions are as follows: elementary 1-on-1, elementary group, middle school, high school, and science outreach. We invite you to visit the About Us page on our website to get a glimpse into what mentoring in each division looks like.

UF IRB Microplastics Survey

We are conducting an international research study to better understand how university students think and act when it comes to microplastics—tiny plastic particles found in food, water, and the environment. These particles may affect human health, but awareness and education around them vary across different countries and cultures.

This study will be conducted in the United States, France, and Turkey, allowing us to compare student knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors across different regions.

By participating, you will help us:

  • Measure student knowledge and behaviors related to microplastics
  • Compare awareness levels across multiple countries
  • Identify educational needs and policy gaps
  • Lay the groundwork for developing future public health campaigns and university-level environmental education
