Garcia was presented with the UF Distinguished Alumna Award on Friday Dec. 15, 2023, during the Fall 2023 Doctoral Commencement Ceremony.

“I’m here in the academy because of the community, and I keep that at the forefront. I want to inspire people to do the same,” said King.
