On-Campus Ph.D.
Doctorate Program
The Teachers, Schools, and Society (TSS) on-campus Ph.D. at the University of Florida is a full-time, research-focused program that prepares students to explore the social, cultural, and political dimensions of education. With options to specialize in areas such as teacher education, social foundations, and critical race studies, students gain the knowledge and experience needed for academic and leadership roles in education.

Online Ed.D.
Doctorate Program
The Ed.D. program is an online, cohort-based professional practice doctorate designed for full-time education professionals seeking to integrate theory, research, and practice in order to address pressing problems of practice. With a required minimum of 90 credit hours—including coursework in curriculum, equity, and research methods—students engage in immersive learning through online classes, summer institutes, and a practitioner-focused dissertation. Built for working educators and leaders, the program equips scholar-practitioners to enact meaningful, equity-oriented change in their professional contexts.

Master’s Program
The TSS M.A.E. program offers a rigorous on‑campus graduate experience (minimum 30 credit hours) designed for students who seek to integrate scholarly inquiry—grounded in history, philosophy, sociology/anthropology, and comparative education—with practical knowledge to address persistent challenges in schooling and society. Through coursework and a thesis or final project, you’ll explore how broader sociocultural forces shape education, all within a vibrant learning community of faculty and peers.
