The educational psychology and research specialization focuses on understanding how people learn and develop in educational settings. Part of the undergraduate UF education sciences program, this track offers students a robust foundation in research and psychology. Students who choose this specialization are prepared for innovation in today’s educational landscape with courses integrating emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. Graduates are prepared for careers in research, school administration, serving as education consultants, and more, thanks to a curriculum that teaches a comprehensive understanding of the human factors behind effective learning.

Today, using research is important for creating effective policies, improving how we teach, and ensuring all students have opportunities to learn. The educational psychology and research specialization prepares students to innovate in today’s educational landscape. Students in this track develop skills in research methodology, assessment, instructional strategies and educational program development. It is ideal for students interested in data-driven decision-making and curriculum development that skills they can implement across different learning environments. With courses integrating emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, our students enhance their research capabilities while discovering avenues to create more personalized, efficient and innovative educational solutions.

Our goal is for our graduates to be confident in their ability to improve teaching effectiveness and learner outcomes through evidence-based practices. This program requires an experiential learning component, which provides critical hands-on experience. Students have the opportunity to pursue undergraduate research opportunities and fulfill the scholarly project requirement to graduate with honors.
