The RIEL Biology Project is open to high school biology teachers in Alachua, Collier, and Hillsborough counties. We are specifically looking to work with teachers whose course ends with the Biology EOC, and who work directly with emergent bilingual students (English language learners), which includes both students who receive ESOL services/classes, as well as those students who speak (an)other language(s) at home but are not receiving ESOL services/classes.
How to Apply
To apply, please click the link below and complete the form with the required information. The application requires responses to the following questions:
1. What do you hope to learn/gain by participating in this project?
2. What strategies do you already use to facilitate emergent bilingual students’ learning?
3. What previous professional development experiences about supporting emergent bilingual students’ learning have you participated in?
4. What do you think is the biggest challenge that emergent bilingual learners face in biology?
