Services and Volunteer Opportunities

Project RISE Volunteers

Description: Project RISE seeks to address inequities in education and health outcomes for African American/Black youth in diverse middle schools where they experience disproportionate discipline referrals, aggressive and discriminatory victimization, and unmet academic, behavioral, and mental health needs. We are evaluating multi-system interventions to reduce these inequities via educational outcomes and student self-report. Research volunteers will help administer student self-report surveys to all 6th and 7th grade students in four urban, Duval County (Florida) middle schools and gain experience answering research participation questions, managing group and classroom behavior, cooperating with teachers and school administrators, and working within a research team to complete a major project milestone.
