Description: Guided Discoveries is looking for college students who are passionate about working with children!  Our summer camp in Clover, VA is looking for counselors for its AstroCamp, Camp CHOP, and Camp Motorsport programs. Summer camp provides a wonderful supplemental experience for education and counseling students.  Students will have the benefit of working with children in a more relaxed environment, allowing them to connect with children on a different level and in a different time frame than is often able to take place in a formal school or clinical setting.  Many of our staff continue on to teaching and counseling careers after leaving us, and they all have benefitted from the skills and experiences gained by working at our summer camps.  It’s a great way for current students to gain real-world experience and to get paid for it!  Plus summer camp is just… fun!  Our staff have opportunities to be creative, mentor children, make lasting, meaningful friendships, and develop skills that will benefit them in their personal and professional lives.

The GNV4All chapter is a branch of the local non-profit, GNV4All, and we are focused on bridging the gap between the university and the city of Gainesville. Specifically, bringing light to the disparities and inequities members of the community are experiencing. By educating members of the organization and providing volunteering opportunities we hope to alleviate these disparities. Our organization is made of 4 different teams: Education, Criminal Justice, Family Support, and Health & Transportation.

Description: Balance 180 Gymnastics & Sports Academy is a local non-profit organization that focuses on integrating children with and without special needs through sports. This summer we are looking for highly motivated volunteers to work with our athletes. We have two programs available; our three-week inclusive summer camp and our adaptive gymnastics program.

• Summer Camp: Summer Camp is a great learning experience for student volunteers. All of our volunteers work 1-1 or 2-1 with the participating campers in various activities, including gymnastics time, crafts, and games. The athletes have a variety of disabilities, including Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, and Cerebral Palsy, among others.
  When: The camp will be offered from July 11th to July 29th and will be held Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Volunteers do not need to commit to all dates. However, we ask that volunteers sign up in advance for the days they are available.
• Adaptive Gymnastics: In adaptive gymnastics classes, we teach gymnasts with physical or intellectual disabilities foundational skills on the vault, bars, beam, and floor in a step-by-step, individualized process. Our volunteers work one-on-one with the athletes and help each athlete work at their own pace. Volunteers focus on helping the athletes improve motor skills and encourage them to follow instructions and make new friends.
  When: The Adaptive Gymnastics classes will be held on most Saturdays from 12:30-2:00 pm.

Description: A team of young adults who have experienced parental incarceration are partnered with adults in a research study to understand the support needs of children ages 12-19 who have also experienced parental incarceration.  This study is conducted through the youth participatory action research model (YPAR), in which young people’s lived experiences guide the research process. This work is being conducted in partnership with UF, Project YouthBuild Gainesville, and River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding.

University students between the ages of 17-19 are eligible to participate if they have currently, or have in the past, had an incarcerated parent or primary caregiver, and are not wards of the state. 17 year-olds will need parent consent. Interested students can participate in focus groups with approximately five others to share about their experiences with parental incarceration, and will also complete a survey, in an in-person session at Project Youth Build Gainesville, lasting about two hours. They will be compensated $30 for their time. Please see the attached flier for additional information.

Description: The Office of Academic Support is seeking graduate-level students who would like to volunteer as Graduate Coordinators and Mentors and support undergraduate students for a leadership development program, LAP-2.

Description: I am in need of a nanny to help with my kids (3 and 5) starting April 25th. Duties would include picking them up from school and taking them to various activities.

Description: I’m looking for a babysitter for my 4 year old daughter for the times when we are in town. She must be fun, energetic, creative, good with play and imagination, love children, naturally good with children, know how to interact with children, able to prepare snacks and generally experienced.
