Description: Teach For America is a national non-profit, leadership development organization that enlists the nation’s top leaders to fight educational inequity in America. For over 30 years, we have placed 60,000 college graduates in a two year commitment in a low income classroom so that they might fulfill the urgent needs of students and gain proximity and nuanced understanding of educational inequities. During the two year commitment, we provide ongoing professional development, in person coaching, and a 10-12K Americorps stipend to help students get a masters degree or pay off student debt. We also provide 5K of transitional stipend for all students during summer training with Teach For America.

We seek candidates who will not only enhance our representational diversity but also work with the Discovery Zone Coordinator and staff to enhance each visitor’s experience in the Florida Museum’s Discovery Zone exhibit for children ages 0-8 years and their caregivers. Focus on expanding programming for non-traditional audiences from diverse backgrounds and developing and evaluating early childhood nature-based education programs both in the exhibit and outdoors. Ensures programs are developmentally appropriate, linked to evidence-based early learning standards, and are aligned with the Museum’s mission of inspiring people to care about life on Earth.

• Facilitate visitor engagement within the Discovery Zone
• Develop and maintain Discovery Zone equipment and materials
• Carry out daily exhibit upkeep and cleaning as needed
• Deliver extraordinary and inclusive customer service to all Museum guests and internal staff
• Assist Discovery Zone Coordinator in developing and implementing creative and fun educational programs related to the Discovery Zone exhibit for children 0-8 years old and their caregivers including structured programs, drop-in programs, special event activities, and workshops for caregivers and early childhood educators
• Assist Discovery Zone Coordinator in efforts to engage underserved and/or underrepresented audiences and youth/families from diverse backgrounds
• Stays current on early childhood education best practices, with an emphasis on nature and science, through professional development as well as Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility training
• Assist Discovery Zone Coordinator in maintaining a tracking system on Discovery Zone programs and attendance
• Assist with exhibit components/materials inventory as well as reporting maintenance issues and problem solving
• Respond to informational requests through e-mail and telephone

Normal work schedule is 24 hours within 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., weekly, primarily weekends (Saturday, Sunday) and Monday with possible other weekday hours. Flexible schedule necessary to accommodate required weekend Discovery Zone hours and programming hours. Schedule varies with program needs and includes hours during times when the University is closed. The Discovery Zone is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas when the Museum is closed.
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour.

Description: Alpha Epsilon Lambda (AEL) is the prestigious honor society for graduate and professional school students. It recognizes students who are in the top 35% of their college, and no more than 1% of these students are accepted each year. We are currently starting that application process for new members for induction in Fall 2022. AEL is the first and only academic honor society dedicated to the recognition of excellence among graduate and professional school students, regardless of academic discipline.

1. First and last name
2. Major
3. GPA (you will need to be in the top 35% of your major to qualify)
4. Credits completed (you will need to have already completed 12 or more credits at UF to qualify)

The deadline for this form to check your eligibility is Sept. 30. Qualified applicants will be sent a full membership application in return, as well as an invitation to a meet-and-greet for potential new members.

The final application for membership will consist of an information form, your CV/resume and a letter of reference. In your application, we will look for demonstrated leadership as well as professional/scholarly accomplishments both inside and outside of school. Please take the time to present these documents in the most professional manner. Your presentation or lack thereof plays a role in determining acceptance when application numbers are high in a given semester. Description: Dear COE Students! P.K. Yonge has had several families ask about resources for tutoring. P.K. Yonge does not facilitate private tutoring but we would like to provide a resource list to families for tutors.

Include your name, subjects you are comfortable with, and your contact information. We have had a lot of requests for help finding middle school math tutors specifically. Families will contact you directly to discuss availability and tutoring rates.
