Research Biography

My research focuses on various issues related to statistics and mathematics teacher education. My interest in statistics education grew from my experience working as an assessment specialist at Educational Testing Service where I served as one of the primary test developers for the AP Statistics program. My interest in mathematics teacher education relates to exploring the most effective methods to impart changes in the way mathematics is taught – particularly at the elementary school level. My current research involves teachers’ preparation to teach statistics, assessment of statistical concepts, and the examination of effective methods to impart change in preservice teachers’ content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and dispositions through the use of field experiences in poverty settings.
