Research Biography

Mary Ann Clark is an associate professor and School Counseling Coordinator in the Department of Counselor Education who has extensive professional experience as a school counselor and school administrator. Her research interests are in the following areas:  male underachievement in public education, counselors as educational leaders, factors in the success of poor and minority students, international collaboration, and school/university partnerships. Dr. Clark has worked as a school counselor and administrator with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools on military bases in England where she held a variety of positions over a 13 year period. She enjoys collaborative activities, including field experiences for students and research with the School Board of Alachua County.  She was a B.O. Smith Research Professor examining data and developing systemic interventions for underachieving male students in public education. Dr. Clark was selected as the 2008 Graduate Faculty Teacher of the Year in the College of Education.
