Step 1: Submit your University of Florida Graduate School Application

  • Select on-campus Ph.D. in counselor education as your desired program
  • GRE Scores – Please have ETS send your official GRE score to the University of Florida (code 5812)
  • Application for Fellowship or Assistantship fellowship-assistantship form
  • A $30.00 (non-refundable) Application Fee is required. Credit card payments require an additional $7.00 processing fee
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Transcripts sent to: University of Florida, Office of Admissions, PO Box 114000, Gainesville, FL 32611-4000

NOTE: Previously enrolled graduate students who have skipped two or more terms and are looking to return to the exact same program and degree level at which they previously attended should apply using the Returning Student Application.

Step 2: Supporting Application Material

Please upload your Résumé/CV in the upload résumé section of the UF online application. Please combine all other documents into one PDF document for upload if you cannot upload separate documents.

Required Program Application Materials

  1. Résumé/CV Pursuant to Florida Statute, your application requires inclusion of all post-high school education and employment, as well as information about ongoing international affiliations and research funding. Ensure this information is included on your curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé that is uploaded within your graduate application.
  2. Personal statement with the following information:
    • Your career goals
    • Your interest in the counseling profession
    • How you believe a degree from our department can help you achieve your goals

    Note: Limit your statement to 2-4 double-spaced pages with one-inch margins.

  3. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  4. Transcripts

      NOTE: For the purpose of initial review, the Office of Admissions accepts unofficial transcripts. These can be uploaded through your Application Status page. Applicants who receive an offer of admission should arrange to have official transcripts sent to the UF Office of Admissions from each postsecondary institution attended.

    • UF Graduate School Application for Fellowship or Assistantship
    • TOEFL/IELTS Scores (international applicants only)

      Application Deadlines

      • All application materials for the program must be received before November 15 for the fall semester.*
      • Allow 2-4 weeks to gather all application materials, including official transcripts and letters of recommendation, as all materials are required for review and admission.
      • Applicants can expect to hear back from the program by mid-February.
