Required Application Materials

Students should adhere to the general procedures for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Florida and the School of Teaching & Learning. Click here for admission criteria.
In addition to the materials listed on that website, potential TSS applicants should:

  • 1. Submit a resume, showing at least three years of teaching experience and including the professional development experiences you have had (e.g., presentations, curriculum development, school and community leadership).
  • 2. Submit an essay:
    Our website describes our program as follows: “Our Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Teachers, Schools, and Society is designed to prepare individuals as researchers in the field of teaching and teacher education. This campus-based program is designed for full-time students who have a passion for the pursuit of social justice and ensuring that schools develop the potential of all learners.”

Please write a statement of no more than 500 words that explains your rationale for applying to this Ph.D. program, your aspirations for your learning within and contributions to the program, and how you anticipate this program can prepare you for meeting your career goals.

The School of Teaching and Learning has adopted a waiver for the GRE for admissions to the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs effective Fall of 2023.

    Application Deadlines

    • All application materials for the on-campus Ph.D. program must be received before March 15 for the fall semester (international students should apply three months prior to this deadline)
    • Allow 2-4 weeks to gather all application materials, including official transcripts and letters of recommendation, as all materials are required for review and admission.
