This program provides advanced graduate coursework designed to enhance your instructional expertise and prepare you for leadership in diverse educational settings.

Program Overview

The M.Ed. is a practitioner-focused degree consisting of 36 total credit hours. It is meticulously designed for educators dedicated to meeting the requirements of the School of Teaching & Learning and the University of Florida Graduate School. Students have the flexibility to combine their Master’s degree with the Language, Education & Technology Certificate or the Second Language Acquisition and Teaching Certificate, offered in collaboration with the UF Linguistics Program.

Program Highlights

Our program is highly international, drawing students from countries including China, Costa Rica, Iran, Korea, Japan, Pakistan, Poland, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. M.Ed. students benefit from networking with the UF English Language Institute (ELI) and participating in school-based practicums (field experiences) at elementary, middle, and secondary levels.

Course Requirements

The curriculum is built on a robust foundation of core courses. Students work closely with their academic advisor to individually tailor the program to their specific interests and professional needs.

    M.Ed. Program Requirements

    • Language Proficiency: A minimum score of 23 on each subtest of the TOEFL iBT (or equivalent) is required for admittance.
    • Start Date: The program begins each year in the fall semester and does not admit spring or summer applicants.
    • Application Timing: Applicants are encouraged to apply by January for admission to the following fall semester.
