Are GRE scores required?

We no longer require GRE scores to apply for our on-campus Ph.D. in higher education administration and policy.

When will admission decisions be made?

We consider all applications after the application deadline. Typically, this is within one to two months of the deadline.

What is an acceptable GPA?

The University of Florida requires that admitted students have a minimum 3.0 GPA in their last 60 credit hours of upper-division undergraduate coursework.

If I miss this application deadline, when will I be able to apply again?

A new cohort of Higher Education On-Campus Ph.D. students begins each fall. The admissions deadline for the On-Campus Ph.D. program is generally in January of every year, to select the new cohort beginning in the following fall.

When can I apply for the next cohort if I miss this application deadline?

A new cohort of on-campus Ph.D. in higher education students begins each Fall. The application deadline is typically in January for admission to the cohort beginning the following Fall.

Contact us if you have more questions about the application timeline and process.

What is the cost of attending?

You can find the current graduate tuition and fees for the University of Florida on the Student Financial Aid and Scholarships site.

Will I be able to interact with my classmates and professors?

All of our courses are dynamic. Given the relatively small size of Ph.D. cohorts and classes, our students get to know one another and their faculty well. Additionally, we hold doctoral student meetings and socials every semester to help foster a community of scholars among the students and faculty. Students regularly research, publish and present with faculty and one another.

Does the program or the College of Education offer a need-based application fee waiver for international students?

The University of Florida does not provide an application fee waiver, and neither does the program nor the College of Education. Additionally, if your application is not considered because the application deadline is passed, UF will not issue you a refund for the application fee. It is important to know the application deadlines for the intended major. If you are applying to more than one program, you must complete an application for each program and pay the non-refundable application fee. More information can be found at the graduate admissions page.
