Embark on your journey toward a master’s degree in Computer Science Education online at the University of Florida. Our MAE in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Computer Science Education, is a fully online, 30-credit hour program consisting of ten courses. Designed for educators passionate about teaching computer science, this program equips you to create inclusive, innovative, and effective learning environments. The program begins every Fall semester, offering a supportive community and a structured path to completion.

As part of this cohort, you’ll collaborate with peers to address both shared and individual challenges in computer science education. This collaborative approach enriches your learning experience, helping you apply new strategies and insights to your educational practice.

Program Curriculum

The online M.A.E. in Computer Science Education offers a robust curriculum that combines both computer science content and pedagogical strategies to ensure you’re well-prepared to teach and inspire the next generation of learners. You’ll engage in courses that cover foundational programming, instructional strategies, and leadership in computer science education, giving you the tools to excel in a variety of educational settings.

This program typically takes 2 years to complete. Students have to complete 30 hours beyond their bachelor’s degree to graduate with their master degree.

  • Students typically complete two 16-weeks courses in Fall and Spring semesters and one 8-weeks course in the first Summer semester with their cohort, which includes online courses, seminars, and synchronous sessions. For more details, refer to the Required Courses and Suggested Course Sequence.
  • Degree completion is contingent upon the student’s ability to meet program requirements at a level consistent with master-level work.

    Program Requirement

    • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a degree deemed equivalent by the University of Florida Office of Admissions.
    • A minimum grade point average of 3.0 upper-division (last 60 credits) undergraduate work.
    • An acceptable grade point average for previous graduate work.
    • No GRE requirement.
