This program is ideal for aspiring leaders across the nation who aspire to earn a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from one of the nation’s premier online graduate education programs. Unlike traditional pathways leading to school building leadership (assistant principal or principal), this track focuses on preparing leaders for specialized roles in systems leadership, policy, digital transformation, and other innovative leadership positions outside the conventional school setting, and does not include certification for school building leadership roles.

Coursework is delivered by knowledgeable, student-centered faculty and experienced administrators. The program includes mentoring, Florida Department of Education-required field experience and support for practicing school leaders.

Program Highlights

The Systems Track allows students to pursue an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership with a flexible curriculum, offering an opportunity for specialization and a customized course of study aligned with their career trajectory. Students complete 21 core credits (7 classes) in Educational Leadership and 15 elective credits (5 classes) from a range of disciplines intersecting with the education space.

    M.Ed. in Educational Leadership Program Requirements

    • bachelor’s, master’s, or terminal degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a degree deemed equivalent by the University Of Florida Office Of Admission.
    • minimum grade point average of 3.0 upper-division (last 60 credits) undergraduate work.
    • An acceptable graduate grade point average for previous graduate work.
    • Students entering on the certification track should also have at least three years of teaching experience and evidence of their two most recent instructional evaluations demonstrating a score of effective or highly effective. Students with less experience can begin the program on the non-certification track and transition upon completion of three years of teaching.

    COURSEWORK FOR SYSTEMS TRACK (NON-CERTIFICATION): Students enrolled in this track will take 18 core credits (LINK) in educational leadership, with the option to take electives specializing in digital transformation (ed tech), research methods and evaluation (data leadership), policy, or other areas of interest.
