The Leadership in Educational Administration Doctorate (LEAD) program prepares future leaders for research, leadership, and policy positions throughout the education system. Our online Ed.D. in educational leadership provides a unique path for students interested in becoming K-12 educational leaders with a curriculum that links research with practice. You can balance work and studies seamlessly with a flexible, part-time format and online classes.

Typically, this degree can be completed in four years of part-time study. GRE scores are not required to apply.

You’re ready to step into influential roles in education. We designed the Leadership in Educational Administration Doctorate for dedicated professionals like you. The unique format offers classes online, with students attending two Saturday meetings per semester through synchronous virtual meetings with asynchronous components in between — so you can continue to work while having an engaging online educational experience. Ultimately, our graduates are prepared for careers and advancement as leaders, researchers, and policymakers at the school, district, state, and national levels.

The LEAD online Ed.D. in educational leadership program is not a principal preparation program. Students interested in Level 1 certification for school administration may consider our M.Ed. and Ed.S. programs.

Online Ed.D. in Educational Leadership Program Highlights

Our unique program blends research with hands-on experience, preparing you to lead at all levels—from school districts to national education policy. The LEAD Ed.D. focuses on broad strategic roles, providing insights for district leadership and policy analysis with coursework that includes job-embedded activities so you can improve your community while you learn. 

Our online Ed.D. in educational leadership program is a comprehensive 90-credit program:

  • 36 credits from educational leadership core courses
  • 15 credits from college and program research courses
  • 24 credits from advanced research and dissertation research
  • 15 credits from electives or transferable master’s degree credits

We admit students to the blended LEAD program annually. The application deadline is March 15.

    Ed.D. Leadership in Educational Administration Doctorate Program Requirements

    •  master’s or terminal degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a degree deemed equivalent by the University of Florida Office of Admissions.
    • minimum grade point average of 3.0 upper-division (last 60 credits) undergraduate work.
    • An acceptable graduate grade point average for previous graduate work.
    • Candidates for the Online Ed.D. Program may be invited for an interview for further evidence of program fit and scholarly potential.
    • The GRE is not required.
