NSF Seeks Public Input on National Technology Priorities

July 11, 2025

The National Science Foundation is seeking public input to help refine the key technology focus areas of its Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP). This Request for Information (RFI) invites feedback on whether to maintain, update, eliminate, or add to the current ten focus areas, which include fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum science, advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, and cybersecurity. Respondents are encouraged to briefly explain their recommendations and rank top priorities across dimensions like national security, economic growth, workforce needs, and translational research potential. Responses are due by July 21, 2025, and may be submitted via Airtable or email. Learn more about the TIP Directorate on the NSF website, and view the full Request for Information on the Federal Register.
