Office of Educational Research Changes to NSF Data Management and Sharing Plan

Changes to NSF Data Management and Sharing Plan

May 14, 2026

Effective April 27, 2026, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has updated its Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP) format requirement. All Data Management and Sharing Plans will be required to be completed through the research.gov webform rather than uploading a PDF. The form auto‑creates based on the proposal’s primary Directorate and is required unless Principal Investigators can provide a valid justification for an exemption.  Submitted PDFs will be overwritten by the new data. Proposals due on or before April 27, 2026 do not need to be updated.

Please note that use of research.gov is strongly recommended as the NSF submission method at the University of Florida, especially since the new Data Management and Sharing Plans must be entered via the research.gov webform. For more information, please consult the NSF website or contact dspcontracts@research.ufl.edu.
