COE Research Event: 2018 Corporate & Foundation Relations Workshop
The COE Office of Educational Research (OER) cordially invites you to attend the 2018 Corporate & Foundation Relations (CFR) Workshop jointly sponsored by OER, COE Development Office, and the UF Foundation (UFF). The workshop will focus on funding opportunities from corporations and private foundations in the state of Florida and beyond.

UF Provides Courtesy Summaries of Research Training
The Office of Research, Enterprise Systems, and Training & Organizational Development are pleased to announce a new service for UF researchers: courtesy transcripts of research-related trainings.
Anyone with active research training in the system will receive an email that lists (a) research trainings and (b) when they expire. This is a courtesy transcript and there is nothing that recipients must do. These courtesy transcripts will be sent in the middle of every December and June starting in December 2017.
The courtesy transcript was developed because many researchers expressed frustration related to renewing their research-related training. Some of the issues that the courtesy transcript will resolve include the following:
NSF Proposal Preparation and Submission in Research.gov Begins in April
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has been involved in a multi-year initiative to modernize the proposal submission process and transition from using FastLane to Research.gov. Beginning in April 2018, proposers can choose to prepare and submit non-collaborative research proposals in FastLane or Research.gov. Collaborative proposals must still be submitted in FastLane.
As always, the COE Office of Educational Research (OER) will be available to assist with uploads or any questions you may have concerning the eventual transition of all proposal preparation and submission functionality from FastLane to Research.gov.
NSF Updates Its Account Management System
This spring, the National Science Foundation (NSF) is implementing changes to the way the research community maintains account and user profile information in FastLane and Research.gov.
NSF will centralize and streamline the account registration process for the external research community providing each user with a single profile and unique identifier (i.e., NSF ID) to be used across all NSF systems.
NSF Provides Overview of Its Public Access Policy and Public Access Repository Requirements
The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Public Access Policy reflects NSF’s commitment to ensuring that the American public, industry, and scientific community have access to federally funded scientific research results.
As such, NSF requires principal investigators to deposit a copy of any peer-reviewed journal publication (either the final accepted version or the version of record) or any juried conference paper into the NSF Public Access Repository (NSF-PAR) in order to report that publication or conference paper in annual or final project reports.
NSF has also developed a streamlined process to support publication and related metadata entry in annual and final project reports.
NSF Launches Responses to Natural Disasters Website
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has created a new website NSF Responses to Natural Disasters in an effort to highlight policy designed to provide flexibility for meeting deadlines during a natural or anthropogenic disaster. The site offers guidance about NSF policies during a natural disaster and lists all NSF communications about recent disasters.
If a disaster prevents a proposer from submitting on time, proposers should follow the guidance provided by the NSF Program Officer. NSF will evaluate each proposal on a case-by-case basis. In general, NSF permits extension of the deadline by up to five business days.
NSF Provides Guidance on Unfunded Collaborations
Except in limited cases, the National Science Foundation (NSF) prohibits voluntary committed cost sharing in proposals. However, proposers may include voluntary uncommitted cost sharing.
Voluntary uncommitted cost sharing must not be included in the budget or budget justification. Instead, any substantial collaboration with individuals not included in the budget should be described in the Facilities, Equipment and Other Resources section of the proposal and documented in a letter of collaboration from each collaborator.
NSF Fall 2017 Grants Conference Webcast is Available Online
The National Science Foundation (NSF) Fall 2017 Grants Conference Webcast is now available online. You can view all the presentations and recordings of the plenary sessions from the NSF Grants Conference on the NSF Resource Center website.
Topics include the following: Types of NSF Funding Opportunities, Proposal Preparation, Award Management, the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program, Merit Review, and more.
ERIC Releases Revised Selection Policy
Following an extensive review, including consultation with stakeholders and opportunity for public comment, the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) has released a revised Selection Policy.
This policy goes into effect in January 2018 and applies to new materials added to ERIC. No previously published records in ERIC will be removed as a result of this selection policy.
