OER Annual Report of Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2018

The Office of Educational Research (OER) completed its annual report outlining data on externally funded projects and grant activities in the College of Education (COE). Faculty productivity and efforts toward securing external funding remain high and have surpassed fiscal year (FY) 2017 in (a) dollar amount of currently funded projects, (b) dollar amount of research funding by faculty member, (c) dollar amount of research expenditures, (d) number of collaborative newly funded awards, (e) dollar amount of collaborative newly funded awards, (f) number of collaborative currently funded projects, and (g) dollar amount of collaborative currently funded projects. August 2019 Summary of COE Submissions to IES

Eleven COE faculty members in all schools and centers submitted 10 Institute of Education Sciences (IES) / IES flow-through proposals for this year’s August deadlines. The total dollar amount requested was $8,462,216.

IES Releases Biennial Report to Congress

The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) has released its Director’s Biennial Report to Congress Fiscal Years 2017–18.

Director Mark Schneider stated in the report that IES is an applied research agency. As such, investments in basic research will continue; however, the work of IES focuses on improving outcomes of learners throughout the life cycle with an emphasis on translating research for widespread use. IES is increasingly interested in moving from identifying what works to improving what happens.

Call for Nominations: UF International Educator of the Year Awards 2019

The UF International Center is pleased to invite nominations for the 2019 International Educator of the Year awards. These awards are made annually in recognition of the outstanding contributions of faculty and staff to the internationalization of the University of Florida.

As in years past, three awards will be made as follows:

  • Senior Faculty International Educator of the Year
  • Junior Faculty International Educator of the Year
  • Staff International Educator of the Year

Applications are due to the Office of Educational Research (OER) by Monday, September 23 at 5pm.

The appropriate college representative must send nominations by Friday, October 11 at 4 pm via email as electronic attachments to the UFIC Office for Global Research Engagement at OGRE@ufic.ufl.edu.  Read more

UF Research Administrator Day Celebration

National Research Administrator Day is celebrated annually on September 25. Please join the UF Office of Research to celebrate the hard work of UF Research Administrators. The celebration will include door prizes, SWAG, light refreshments, and other special guests.

UF IT Offers Free Online Course: SPSS Statistics and Sample Power 3

UF IT is offering a seven-week online course on using SPSS and SamplePower 3. This in-depth certificate earning course is available free of charge for all faculty, staff, TAs, postdoctoral associates, and graduate students.

UF IT and UFII Hosts 2019 HiPerGator Symposium

UF IT and the UF Informatics Institute (UFII) are hosting the second annual HiPerGator Symposium, an event for postdoctoral associates and graduate students who use the university’s supercomputer.

The event will be held Tuesday, October 22, from 9:00 am –2:00pm in the UF Informatics Institute. The deadline to apply is Monday, September 23. Symposium acceptance notifications will be sent by September 30.

All attendees (presenters and non-presenters) must register online, and interested faculty and students are welcome to attend. Read more

UF IT Offers Easy Access to Research Computing Expertise

Research computing consulting support is available daily in three campus locations: the New Physics Building, the UF Informatics Institute, and the Cancer & Genetics Research Complex.

Walk-in support is free of charge. Hours for each location are published online as well as the names of applications specialists who staff each location. In addition to the walk-in hours, faculty, research staff, postdocs, and graduate students are invited to review the range of supercomputing and consulting services offered by UF IT.

EndNote Premium X9 licenses can now be purchased by UF departments for faculty, students, and staff use at reduced cost through UF IT. The popular software makes managing research extremely efficient, from compiling thesis bibliographies to preparing papers for publication.
