You will need to take the following steps:

1. Write a personal statement for your application.
2. Obtain your university transcripts (translated officially into English); GRE test scores; iELTS or TOEFL test scores, where applicable.
3. Submit three letters of recommendation

Note:

• The application process is fully online.
• The School of Teaching and Learning has adopted a waiver for the GRE for admissions to the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs effective Fall of 2023.

[av_toggle title=’I am interested in the Master’s degree in ESOL/Bilingual Education. What is the difference between those degrees?’ tags=” custom_id=”]
The M.Ed. is a 36-credit-hour (12-course) program. The MAE is also 36 credit hours, but 30 credit hours are coursework and 6 credit hours may be taken as independent work for students to engage in a thesis or ‘special project.’ We generally admit all students into the M.Ed. program. Students desiring to write a thesis or engage in a special project should discuss this option with his/her advisor.

Upon admission, you are assigned an academic advisor that can be located in your admittance email.

[av_toggle title=’I am an international student. Do I have any other advisors?’ tags=” custom_id=”]
Yes! Your academic advisor in the ESOL/Bilingual Education program area is different than your international advisor from the University of Florida International Center (UFIC). Your UFIC advisor can assist you with student visas, international insurance, financial guidance for international students, etc.

The ESOL/Bilingual Education program area receives applications through March of each spring for admission in August each fall. However, to be considered for college-wide scholarships and assistantships, your materials must be received by December of the year before beginning the program.
