UF Supervisors
How it Works
Roles & Responsibilities
The university supervisor plays a vital role in supporting the clinical experience, serving as a bridge between the intern or practicum student, the mentor teacher or site supervisor, and the University of Florida.
Throughout the internship or practicum experience, the university supervisor provides ongoing guidance and support to both the intern/practicum student and the mentor/site supervisor. University supervisors observe candidates in practice, conduct site visits when feasible, provide feedback to promote professional growth, facilitate seminars when applicable, complete required evaluations, confer regularly with students and mentor/site supervisors, and serve as a resource for all members of the clinical experience team.
Through these collaborative efforts, university supervisors help ensure that candidates have meaningful opportunities to develop their professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions while successfully meeting program expectations and learning outcomes.
Some university supervisors also serve as teaching faculty within the College of Education. In these roles, they are additionally responsible for evaluating student performance and assigning course grades and ratings for students enrolled in their courses, including those associated with clinical experiences.
MidTerm and Final Internship/Practicum Evaluations
- To support the graduation clearance of their assigned intern/practicum student(s), UF Supervisors must complete the final internship/practicum evaluation for each student they supervise in Student Learning and Licensure (SLL) or LiveText, depending on the platform assigned to the placement.
- Midterm and final evaluations have assigned due dates. UF Supervisors should log in to their Student Learning and Licensure (SLL) or LiveText account to access assigned student evaluation(s) and record all evaluation deadlines on their calendar to ensure timely completion.

Placement Satisfaction Surveys
A hallmark of a high-quality program is gathering feedback from stakeholders regarding their clinical experiences. This feedback, combined with data from other program assessments, helps the University of Florida College of Education evaluate and continuously improve both its programs and placement experiences
The Placement Satisfaction Survey provides university supervisors with an opportunity to share feedback regarding their experiences with the intern/practicum student, the mentor teacher or site supervisor, and the University of Florida College of Education.
- UF Supervisors may receive these surveys through an email from the College of Education’s Field Placement Coordinator (@coe.ufl.edu) or as an assigned activity within Student Learning and Licensure (SLL).
- UF Supervisors who supervise more than one intern/practicum student are required to complete an individual survey for each student they supervise, as directed by the survey instructions.
- All survey responses are kept confidential and reported in aggregate form, with all identifying information removed.
Online Placement Platforms
NOTICE: The University of Florida College of Education is transitioning from LiveText to Student Learning and Licensure (SLL) to house clinical experience placements. UF Supervisors will utilize the platform(s) of the student(s) they are assigned, which may be SLL and/or LiveText, until LiveText is officially phased out. For any questions regarding accessing either of these platforms, please contact Kim Roberts (kjf@coe.ufl.edu).
