The Educational Technology program adheres to the admission guidelines set by our home department, the School of Teaching and Learning (STL). Please refer to their admission guidelines for all degrees and certificates for important deadlines.

Step 1: Submit your University of Florida Graduate School Application

  • Select On-Campus Ph.D. as your desired program
  • In the “Program Specialization” field indicate “Certificate Track” or “Non-Certificate Track” (note: certificate track requires three years of teaching experience and leads to level 1 principal certification; non-certification track enrollees can transition to the certification track once completing three years of teaching experience).
  • A $30.00 (non-refundable) Application Fee is required. Credit card payments require an additional $7.00 processing fee
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Transcripts sent to: University of Florida, Office of Admissions, PO Box 114000, Gainesville, FL 32611-4000

NOTE: Previously enrolled graduate students, who have skipped two or more terms, and are looking to return to the exact same program and degree level at which they previously attended, should apply using the Returning Student Application.

Step 2: Supporting Application Material

Please upload the resume, scholarly paper and your two most recent annual teacher evaluations with your UF online graduate application under “Other Upload” with the Upload Resume section of the UF online application. Please combine all documents into one PDF document for upload if you cannot upload separate documents.

Required Program Application Materials

  1. Résumé – Pursuant to Florida Statute, your application requires inclusion of all post-high school education and employment, as well as information about ongoing international affiliations and research funding. Please ensure this information is included on your curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé.
  2. Scholarly Paper – We seek evidence that you can present a thesis, develop an idea, and present your ideas on paper. Students may write on any topic in the general field of K-12 or Higher Education learning, teaching, critical issues or leadership. The paper must include citations and a reference list. The paper should be no more than 3-5 pages.
  3. Annual Teacher Evaluations (if applicable) – If pursuing Level 1 certification, include your two most recent annual teacher evaluations (not required if pursuing the degree without Level 1 principal certification)

    Application Deadlines

    • All application materials for the program must be received before July 1 for the fall semester*. 
    • Allow 2-4 weeks to gather all application materials, including official transcripts and letters of recommendation, as all materials are required for review and admission.
