Prerequisite Courses (9 credit hours)
Students will either take these courses or transfer in comparable courses from other degree programs. Students will work with their advisor on transfer credits after admission. Please see the program FAQ for information on transferring credit.

Research Courses (12 credit hours)
The College of Education requires all Ph.D. students to earn at least 12 hours of research credit. Educational technology doctoral concentration students will take at least one quantitative and one qualitative research methods course. Students will work with their advisor to determine appropriate courses.
Optional Minor Outside of School of Teaching Learning (12 credit hours)
Students should speak with their advisor to discuss whether a graduate minor might support their research.
Qualifying Exam and Dissertation Credits (12 credit hours)
Student must enroll in EDG 7979 to prepare for and take their qualifying exams.
After passing the qualifying exams, students advance to doctoral candidacy. They then begin their dissertation work by enrolling in EDG 7980. Advisors will help students understand our program’s dissertation guidelines and help determine the best number of credits to take each semester based on individual circumstances.
