As the first year of Norman Hall’s long-awaited rehabilitation comes to a close, College of Education faculty, staff, students and friends remain eager for its unveiling.
The project, a 90,000 square-foot, $29 million rehabilitation and expansion, features an intentional blend of old and new maintaining the character and iconic building features of historic Norman Hall with thoughtful enhancements chosen to meet the needs of the learners of today and tomorrow.
Included in the building’s plans are necessary renovations to Norman’s infrastructure as well as student-centric additions including technological upgrades, configurable spaces such as classrooms and meeting rooms, expanded research-designated space, a new café and a large, new conference center.
Domenic Scorpio, president and CEO of Scorpio., and Jason Diven, project manager with Scorpio., recently offered a tour and update on the progress of Norman Hall’s rehabilitation to Senior Associate Dean Tom Dana. Included in the tour were highlights demonstrating the environmentally responsible design and construction practices included in the rehabilitation. Norman Hall will be designated a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold-certified building, the second highest designation available.
Rehabilitation of Norman Hall is expected to be completed in fall 2019.
