College Recognition Ceremony

  • Candidate Assembly: Gate 4 will open for candidates 90 minutes prior to ceremony start time.

  • Tickets: We will not ticket this recognition ceremony nor restrict the number of guests-per-candidate.

Spring 2026 Doctoral Commencement Ceremony

*PARTICIPATING DEGREES: PhD, EdD, AuD, DAT, DMA, DNP, DPM, DPT

  • Date & Time: Thursday, April 30. 9am-11am.
  • Location: Stephen C. O’Connell Center.
  • Candidate & Escort Assembly: Gate 4 will open for candidates and escorts 90 minutes prior to ceremony start time. Candidates should wear regalia (but carry their hood draped over their left arm). Escorts should arrive in full regalia.
  • Guest Admission: Gate 1 will open for guests 90 minutes prior to ceremony start time. 
  • Tickets: We will not ticket this commencement ceremony nor restrict the per-candidate guest count.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to RSVP to attend?

Yes! Graduates planning to attend a UF Commencement Ceremony and/or the College Recognition Ceremony
must RSVP for each individual ceremony through OneUF. Instructions were sent by the Director of
Commencements, Jason Degen.

Will my name be called as I walk across the stage?

Yes! All College of Education graduates will be recognized by name as they cross the stage at the ceremony.

Is the Recognition Ceremony for all majors?

The College of Education Recognition Ceremony is a college-specific ceremony that will celebrate all College of
Education graduates — bachelor’s, master’s, specialist’s and doctoral candidates. Graduates will be individually
recognized as they cross the stage.

Doctoral Commencement will take place Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 9:00am in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Candidates will be individually recognized and all Ph.D. and Ed.D. degrees will be conferred.
The University-wide Commencement will take place Friday, May 1, 2026 at 7:00pm in the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The ceremony will feature a speaker and confer all bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist’s degrees.

Do I need tickets for the ceremony?

No. The Recognition Ceremony is being held in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center and tickets are not required.

What should I wear?

Academic regalia is required to participate in the Doctoral Commencement Ceremony, University-wide Commencement Ceremony, and the College of Education Recognition Ceremony.

If I have a disability…?

Graduates do not receive a diploma at the Commencement Ceremony or the COE Recognition Ceremony. The
Office of the University Registrar mails diplomas approximately eight weeks after graduation to the address
entered on the student’s degree application. More information available here.

Where can I park?

All parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking restrictions are lifted for graduation weekend. Parking is available in the flat lot by the O’Connell Center and Parking Garage 7. It is recommended that you arrive early, particularly if members of your party are elderly or have mobility impairments.

How long with the ceremony last?

We expect the ceremony to last approximately two hours, including the processional.

Will I receive my diploma?

Will photos be taken?

Color photographs are available from University Photography, P. O. Box 2454, Tuscaloosa, AL 35403-2454, 205-391-9500. Graduation proofs are usually mailed from the vendor within 7-10 days of graduation. There is no obligation to purchase these photos. More information available here.

What time should guests and graduates arrive?

The ceremony begins with the processional at 1:30pm. Doors to the O’Connell Center open at 12:30pm.
