Where in the world have you traveled to conduct your work?
In Paris while on sabbatical
What type of work or partnerships have you engaged in (research, teaching, training, outreach, a keynote)?
Collaboration with Jaccede <https://www.jaccede.com/en/> to embed in the Disability in Society Minor to ensure it has a international perspective. In addition, students have the opportunity to suggest changes to the Jaccede app for use in the US.
Who has benefitted from this work?
UF students will learn about an international effort provide a resource to people with disabilities that assist them with accessibility. While exploring the uses of the app students will learn how access has bee described for museums, restaurants, shops, etc. in Europe. Students will compare these assess criteria to those they might need in the US and make recommendations for changes to the app.
Jaccede will have input on the use of their app on the US along with the ease of its use by students.
As the instructor I have an opportunity to offer my students an international link that gives them a real life application to the literature and course discussion on access for people with disabilities internationally.
What is the most interesting aspect of the work you have done?
Working with individuals in another country that have created a simple solution to access for PWD. Reviewing the uses of the app in Paris with old sites made me realize that some sites were more accessible then I would have thought.
What type of global work are you currently doing? What’s next?
Continue to work with Jaccede to expand the use of their app in the US
