Careers in Education Fair – Reitz Union – Wednesday, April 5th, 5:00 – 7:00pm
COE Students – We welcome you to attend this year’s College of Education Career Fair and lead-in events!  The Careers in Education Fair will feature over 50 recruiters from public and private schools in Florida and from surrounding states.  Please see the flyer for event details.  Hope to see you there!

Education Majors with an interest in STEM
Please join the American Society for Engineering Education for a Meet and Greet with Dr. Luis Martin-Vega, the current national ASEE president and Gator alum. The date is April 6th, 9am – 11am in the Mathews Suite of the Reitz union. Refreshments will be available.

Apply Now For UF Graduate Student Council (GSC) Travel Grants
The UF GSC is now accepting travel grant applications for travel that begins on the following dates:
(1) Domestic travel beginning June 15 – July 22
(2) International travel beginning July 1 – July 22
The application and further information is available on the GSC Grants website at ufgsc.org. The deadline for grant applications is April 30 for both domestic and international travel.  Please note these deadlines are different than other months, as they have been adjusted to accommodate the end of Student Government’s fiscal year.

GSC is also seeking students to review travel applications at monthly review meetings.  These are typically held the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m., and last between 1.5 -2.5 hours. New reviewers are trained at the beginning of each meeting. To find out more or attend the next meeting, please email gscgrants@gmail.com

Please remember the following when applying for travel grants:
(1) A representative of your department must attend all GSC general body meetings, the dates of which may be found here: gsc.sg.ufl.edu  or here: https://www.facebook.com/UFGraduateStudentCouncil/
(2) No purchase made on a department PCard may be reimbursed by a GSC travel grant.

(4) Applications submitted late or in the incorrect application window will be denied automatically.
(5) Incomplete and/or plagiarized applications will be denied automatically.

UF’s Writing Studio offers free one-on-one writing tutoring for all UF students.  Our tutors are mostly graduate students, and they work with students from freshmen to grad students, from all fields, and on documents ranging from one-page memos to dissertations.  We help many students with personal statements and application essays for graduate school, too.  We provide half-hour appointments; we are open at our main office M-F from 10:00 – 4:00, and in Library West M-R from 5:00 – 8:00 in the evening.  To make an appointment, go to our website at http://www.writing.ufl.edu, choose “Writing Studio,” and you’ll see directions on how to make appointments.

2nd Annual Graduate Student Appreciation Week (April 3-7)
Graduate Student Appreciation Week is a chance for the university to give back to our amazing graduate student body for all of the work they do teaching, researching, and serving. During the week, graduate students will have the opportunity to engage with organizations and people all over campus through Graduate Student Research Day, workshops, and events like an Ice Cream Social.  Click here to view the GSAW event schedule.

10th Annual Gator Nation Field Day – Saturday, April 8
Lambda Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. would like to cordially invite you to our annual philanthropy Gator Nation Field Day! This staple program serves to unite University of Florida students with the Gainesville community through a dialogue about physical and mental health. Volusia Schools Instructional Job Fair – Teach by the Beach!

Careers in Community Organizing for Social Justice
The Direct Action & Research Training (DART) Center will hold an online information session on Tuesday, April 11 at 8 pm EST to discuss careers in community organizing with UF students and alumni interested in uniting congregations and working for social, economic and racial justice. Institute of Reading Development – Summer Teaching Positions Available
The Institute teaches developmental reading programs to students in partnership with the continuing education departments of more than 100 colleges and universities across the United States. Our classes for students of all ages improve their reading skills and teach them to experience absorption in literature. Details here.

We seek applicants with an undergraduate degree or higher from any discipline. We provide a paid training program and comprehensive on-going support.

·         Earn more than $6,500 during the summer. Teachers typically earn between $550 – 750 per week while teaching.
·         Gain over 150 hours of paid teacher-training
·         Earn over 400 hours of teaching experience with a variety of age groups.
·         Help students of all ages develop their reading skills and ability to become imaginatively absorbed in books.

Kindering (Bellevue, WA) – Hiring Early Childhood Special Educators

Summer Counselors – Camp Winadu (Pittsfield, MA)  
General Counselors at Winadu are the heartbeat of camp, spending their day with campers and participating in all the activities Winadu has to offer.  All in the same day, a General Counselor can be coaching flag football, spending time at the lake and participating in a campfire.  General Counselors make activities fun and encourage campers to participate.  The ideal candidate will be high energy, fun, comfortable trying new things, and embrace our motto “Building Character Through Sports.’ General Counselor should enjoy working with children, have a high level of patience, a solid work ethic and be open minded.  We offer a competitive salary (based on experience), generous travel stipend, and all room and board expenses.  Winadu is approximately 3 hours from Boston and NYC.

Teaching Internships Available in Cedar Key

Social Justice Internship in Oral History (Fall 2017) – applications due April 19, 2017
This fall internship will offer students negotiable flexibility in terms of topical focus and specific forms of work output (e.g. more interviewing, vs. more podcasting, vs. developing teaching modules, vs. helping with press releases and social media), but will continue to provide impactful experiential and service learning opportunities in oral history fieldwork and digital humanities production. Childcare – Tutoring

Local family seeks daily help with two-year-old twin girls. Daily schedule consists of picking girls up from local school at 11:45am and watching them at home until 5:00pm. Additional evening and weekend time may be requested depending upon availability and need. Previous experience with twins and/or multiple toddlers preferred. References will be requested. In search of after-school babysitting for three children ages 9, 8, and 3.  They love to be active and play outside.  Pay will be $12/hour.  Need someone who will be available for the entire summer semester.  Please contact me if interested and we can work out a schedule. Two boys, ages 10 & 12 to be brought and picked up from school starting May 1st and ending June 2nd. We do not need anyone Wednesday afternoons. The boys go to different schools but they are a few blocks apart.  We need our sitter to come to our home at 7:15 each am. Youngest needs to be at school prior to 8:00am and oldest needs to be at school by 8:50am. Pick up starts at 3pm for the youngest boy and the oldest boy is picked up at 3:15pm.  On most days they just come home and their father is there by 4:30. Communication Aide/Learning Facilitator
Family in immediate need of a reliable, committed, and long-term communication aide for a teen with disabilities. Family is looking for a motivated individual to work with their teenager son as a facilitator of learning through the use of Rapid Prompting Method (RPM). Aide will receive free training in RPM by the family, although additional outside training/reading is strongly encouraged. The Individual is being homeschooled. 5 hours/week: schedule can be flexible, but must be available approximately 1 hours/day, M-F. We will need a reference from you. Salary is commensurate to experience, and will go up over time. Training takes several months to complete.
