Course Announcement: EDG 6931 Theorizing Race & Racism in Educational Research
Drawing from diverse and global theorizations of race, this primer course aims to 1) explore several critical theorizations of race that are prominently featured and in some cases neglected in educational research; 2) trace the socio-historical foundations and transnational parallels of several theorizations of race; and 3) draw from our developing understandings of theories of race and racism to frame enduring educational concerns. Course information: EDG 6931, Fall 2020, Section 18E8/Class #12202, Wednesday (Periods 4-6) 10:40 AM – 1:40 PM. Certified Special Education Teacher
Description: Local Gainesville family is seeking a Certified Special Education Teacher to hire for private, in home instruction. Family is seeking professional instruction for four* (4) children for the full 2020-2021 school year. Students will include:
The teacher will work with the mother (Early Childhood Education degree and former Kindergarten teacher) to develop initial learning objectives and general desired outcomes. The teacher will be responsible for the development and implementation of lesson plans, teaching units, and daily/weekly schedules.

NAMI Mentors
Description: NAMI Gainesville seeks caring adults to mentor youth with mental health challenges. Mentors will meet with their mentees at least once per week – either in person or electronically. Mentors will help youth age 6-18 in the following areas:

Lastinger Virtual Listening Tour Graduate Volunteers
Description: In an effort to help inform future planning and decision-making, the College of Education and Lastinger Center for Learning are partnering to launch a COVID-19 Virtual Listening Tour to gather information and analyze what worked successfully in education programs’ transition to distance learning throughout Florida. Information will be collected through surveys, publicly released articles and data, and videoconference/phone interviews with education stakeholders. The data will then be used to develop several briefs and a final report for release in fall 2020.
Since we are aiming to conduct 100+ interviews over the next few weeks, we are seeking additional volunteers to assist with transcript cleaning. We will be using a transcription service, but anticipate needing support with the cleaning process.
