Center for African Studies CFP Research Tutorial Abroad: Undergraduate Research Program
The Center for African Studies, with support from our US Department of Education Title VI area studies grant, invites applications for a ‘domestic’ version of our annual Research Tutorial Abroad program. The RTA typically provides opportunities for UF faculty to bring undergraduate students to their field sites to participate in primary research in Africa. Due to COVID-related uncertainties about travel and field site conditions, CAS will fund domestic-based research projects only. Faculty members are invited propose specific African-based or Africa-focused research projects involving two to three students in data collection and/or analysis for a period of two weeks while based in the US.* Faculty involvement in planning and implementation is required to provide oversight for student researchers. All student researchers should be UF undergraduates. Funding will be available for project awards of up to $6000 each: $2500 faculty salary + $1500 student support + $500 research expenses.
For more information on how to apply and requirements, please email CAS Academic Assistant, Alani Ilori (email@example.com). Applications for projects for Summer 2021 should be submitted by Wed, April 7, 2021 at 5:00 PM. Questions, or requests for a meeting to discuss a potential proposal, may be addressed by e-mail to Brenda Chalfin, Director, CAS (firstname.lastname@example.org).
