The Holmes Scholars Program Applications
The Holmes Scholars Program was originally established in 1991 by the Holmes Group (which later evolved into the Holmes Partnership) with the primary goal of establishing equity, diversity, and cultural competence in programs of higher education and PK-12 schools. The program was designed to enrich the scholarly experience and professional training of talented graduate-level students of color pursuing careers in education.
Students of Color are encouraged to submit an application for the UF COE chapter of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) Holmes Scholar Program! Doctoral students not yet admitted to candidacy, in all program areas in the UF COE, are eligible to apply and participate.

The Science Coalition’s Fund It Forward Student Video Challenge
The Science Coalition — a nonprofit, nonpartisan group of more than 50 research universities — invites undergraduate and graduate students to tell stories about their institution’s research through its Fund It Forward Student Video Challenge. The winning submissions will be used to promote federally funded research with members of Congress.
The 60- to 90-second videos will be judged on how well they convey the excitement and potential of science, illustrate a personal interest in research and how it could impact people, and explain why continued federal support for fundamental research is critical to the nation’s future.
First place winners will receive $1,000, second place winners will receive $750, and third place winners will receive $500. Graduate and undergraduate submissions will be judged separately. The winner of the People’s Choice Award, which is open to both graduates and undergraduates, will receive $500. The deadline for submissions is October 18. Caregiver
Description: We’re looking to hire an individual (female) to work with a developmentally disabled woman as a caregiver. The client lives in a supported living setting (an apartment) and requires assistance with a wide range of normal supports to enable her to stay in the apartment safely and includes, but not limited to, minimal cooking with client, accessing activities/events in the community, accompanying her to school/volunteer sites, assisting in homework, basic upkeep of the apartment and staying overnight with her to ensure her safety. Schedules are flexible and can be negotiated based on the individual availability.
The individual has to have a high school diploma, one year of experience in working (or volunteering) with the disabled, elderly, or children. Will need a valid driver license, car registration and car insurance. Also, two employer references (any). Having a vehicle to transport client is a must.

Description: Join us in volunteering for an East Gainesville Community Wellness event on Sunday, September 26th from 11am-4:30pm as we partner with Alachua County Public Schools and UF Health. This event aims to help increase accessibility of Covid rapid testing and vaccinations within the East Gainesville community. We will need about 20-30 volunteers to help with set up, traffic flow, and distributing consent forms.

Changemakers’ Dialogues
Description: The David and Wanda Brown Center for Leadership and Service invite you to Changemakers’ Dialogues. Come share your own experiences and listen to others in order to put into practice leadership and social change concepts & build understanding for everyone through exercises, reflection and dialogue. This FREE weekend-long leadership program seeks to brings together students from diverse backgrounds to share about their life & campus experiences around particular identities & topics and train on how to create these spaces for more students.
In dialogue, students are partnered to be co-facilitators, and this is your opportunity to be trained in Intergroup Dialogue, a national model, through a new UF program: Changemakers’ Dialogue. You will leave the weekend as a fully certified Intergroup Dialogue Facilitator. Undergraduates and Graduate students invited to apply!

UF Survey | Exploring the Perceptions of Campus Police Outreach Events Among College Students

Each semester, my undergraduate research methods students undertake an original data collection research project focused on improving the justice system. This semester, we are examining police—community interactions by exploring perceptions of undergraduate students on campus police sponsored outreach events. The study has been approved by the UF IRB (IRB202100354) and my students plan to present their findings to UF police at the end of the semester. Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program
Description: The Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program Collaborative is a two-year conservation training program for undergraduates who are interested in careers in conservation and in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field. Scholars take part in applied field research projects (1st Summer – 2021), professional internships (2nd Summer – 2022), mentoring, and form strong professional networks that span the country (and beyond). Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowships
Description: The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowship Program provides opportunities for doctoral candidates to engage in full-time dissertation research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. The program is designed to deepen research knowledge and increase the study of modern foreign languages, cultural engagement, and area studies not generally included in U.S. curricula.
Program Features: Students may request funding to support overseas research for a period of no less than six months and no more than 12 months. Funds support travel expenses to and from the residence of the fellow and the country or countries of research; maintenance and dependent allowances based on the location of research for the fellow and his or her dependent(s); an allowance for research-related expenses overseas; and health and accident insurance premiums. Projects may focus on one or more of the following geographic areas: Africa, East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, South Asia, the Near East, Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia, and the Western Hemisphere (excluding the United States and its territories).
Eligible Applicants: Institutions of higher education (IHEs) in the United States are eligible to apply for grants under this program. As part of the application process, eligible students submit their individual research narratives and application forms to their home IHE. UF IFAS Summer Internship with Cedar Key School K-12 Education
Description: This internship is intended to give undergraduate students at UF an opportunity for real-world experience in education and/or extension activities. Selected students will work alongside local K-12 youth from Cedar Key School. The hosts include UF/IFAS faculty as well as Cedar Key K-12 educators. Interns will participate in a summer wrap- up workshop where interns will summarize their experiences. This is a great opportunity for students to enhance their skill sets and explore career options in educational natural resource fields. This internship is open to current undergraduates from the College of Education, University of Florida.
Pay Rate: This internship is 240 paid work hours for a total of six weeks, and interns are paid $12.00 per hour for up to 40 hours a week.

Camp Laurel South Summer Camp
About Camp Laurel South: Camp Laurel South is located near Portland, Maine in the heart of the Sebago Lakes Region. Its 150 unspoiled acres include woodlands, sports fields and open lawns. It’s location in the southern part of Maine makes Laurel South a most inviting summer retreat for campers and counselors alike. Each summer, Laurel South operates two four-week programs with 400 boys and girls, ages 7 to 15 in each session. They come from all over the U.S. as well as several foreign countries. The return rate for both campers and staff is very high.
Description: Camp Laurel South is a residential summer camp in Maine seeking college athletes to be activity instructors and camp counselors for the summer of 2021. This is a great summer experience that can fulfill many internship requirements. We look for people with personality, character, maturity, professional training, experience and most importantly, a sincere desire to work with children. Our counselor to camper ratio is better than 1:3.

Description: Florida Elks Youth Summer Camp is hiring staff members and camp counselors! This summer program will go from June 13th 2021 to August 7th 2021. By working here at camp, students become eligible to apply for the Van Duren scholarship. Students must continue working here to receive the scholarship. Awards are between $1,000 and $5,000 a year. We are a residential camp and staff stay here on property while campers are here. Campers are 9-13.
