4-H Youth Development Program Access, Equity, and Belonging Academic Coordinator II

Description: UC ANR is hiring a 4-H Youth Development Program Access, Equity, and Belonging Academic Coordinator II located at State 4-H Office, UC ANR Office, in Davis, CA. The Academic Coordinator (ACII) will provide leadership and support to 4-H professionals throughout the state to increase the engagement and participation of unserved and underserved youth and adult audiences in all delivery modes of the 4-H Youth Development Program.

The Academic Coordinator will:

  • Develop systems and resources to build the capacity of 4-H professionals to increase 4-H youth membership and adult volunteerism among the Latinx and all unserved and underserved communities.
  • Develop tools and resources (e.g., curricula) and provide training to empower 4-H professionals to address the needs and interests of unserved and underserved youth and families and to expand and diversify their 4-H Youth Development Programs.
  • Identify priority issues and inform on best practices to better reach unrepresented youth, families, and communities in California.
  • Design and implement strategies to improve staff and volunteers’ skills to enhance inclusiveness and intercultural competence.
  • Collaborate in acquiring funding for extension and/or creative activity.

Minimum Requirements: A minimum of a master’s degree in Youth or Human Development, Child Development, Education, Youth Studies, Ethnic Studies, or related field is required at the time of appointment. Candidate should have substantial experience and sensitivity to cultural differences in working with youth. Demonstrated effectiveness in building on the collective strengths of culturally diverse youth and adults, including adult volunteers is required.
Salary: The beginning salary will be in the Academic Coordinator II series. Fellowships in Education Research - National Academy of Education (NAEd)/Spencer Foundation

The Dissertation Fellowship Program
Description:
 The Dissertation Fellowship Program seeks to encourage a new generation of scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields to undertake research relevant to the improvement of education. These $27,500 fellowships support individuals whose dissertations show potential for bringing fresh and constructive perspectives to the history, theory, or practice of formal or informal education anywhere around the world. Fellows will also attend professional development retreats and receive mentorship from NAEd members and other senior scholars in their field. This highly competitive program aims to identify the most talented emerging researchers conducting dissertation research related to education. The NAEd/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship program will fund 35 promising young scholars for the 2023-24 academic year. Click here to learn about the current fellows.

The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
Description: The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports early-career scholars working in critical areas of educational scholarship. Fellows will receive $70,000 for one academic year of research, or $35,000 for each of two contiguous years, working half time. Fellows will also attend professional development retreats and receive mentorship from NAEd members and other senior scholars in their fields. For the current application cycle, applicants must have received their PhD, EdD, or equivalent research degree between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2021. This fellowship is non-residential, and applications from all disciplines are encouraged. The NAEd/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship program will fund 25 early-career researchers for the 2023-24 academic year. Click here to learn about the current fellows.

Graduate Assistant, Collaborative for Equity in Education

Description: The Collaborative for Equity in Education is looking for a full-time GA to help support the work of the Center. This position will include supporting the center’s flagship program, the Akwaaba Freedom School. GA roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with administrative tasks
  • Program development and planning for the center
  • Communications and online presence support
  • Organizing, collecting, and analyzing research data
  • Help building partnerships with educational entities

This role includes a GA stipend for 20 hours a week and a 9-credit tuition waiver.

Triunfadores College Prep Program Volunteers

Description: The Gainesville-based non-profit Children Beyond Our Borders runs a variety of programs, including but limited to health clinics, educational workshops, and scholarship funds. One of the tutoring programs, the Triunfadores College Prep Program, aims to bridge the educational opportunity gap between K-12 students of varying socioeconomic backgrounds by providing low-income and otherwise disadvantaged students with resources they might not otherwise have access to.

Tutors will receive monthly training/professional development workshops, have weekly teaching opportunities, and get access to a network of future educators, all while helping the community.

Triunfadores - College Prep Program Volunteer Opportunity

Spectrum Education Volunteers

Description: Spectrum Education is looking for volunteers! We are a fully virtual nonprofit whose mission and purpose is to empower Florida’s exceptional students to reach their full potential through a rigorous and engaging virtual learning community. We are looking for volunteers to help teach related arts classes once a week (Physical Education, Computers, Music) via Zoom to elementary, middle, and high school students. The lessons would be provided, and class size would be between 2 and 10 at the most.

Part Time Nanny for Infant

Description: We are seeking a part time nanny 2-3 days per week (M-Th 10-4 pm) starting for our 4 month old baby girl. We live in NE Gainesville. My husband works from home and we have 3 small dogs. Experience with infant care is desirable. Duties will include infant care as well as general tidying up as it relates to baby care (cleaning of bottles, baby laundry, etc) and prepping dinner. We are also seeking occasional babysitters for weekend evenings as needed.

After School Care

Description: Family of two children (age 7 and 10) seeking a responsible caregiver to do after-school pick up and drive children to after school activities (i.e., sports, etc). The candidate would also help children get ready for those activities (e.g., help with packing bags, etc.). Homework help may be needed as well. Hours would include within the range of approximately 4pm- 8pm Monday through Thursday. More hours are available if candidate is interested. Must have own vehicle and safe driving record. Must be non-smoker and clear a background check. Must be up to date on Covid-19 vaccinations. References required. Pay is commensurate with experience. Position to begin as soon as possible.
