CWC AWARE Ambassador
Passionate about mental health? Apply to be a 2023-2024 AWARE Ambassador! AWARE Ambassadors help fight the stigma surrounding mental health by educating their fellow peers about available resources on campus and wellness tips. Students from all majors are welcomed and encouraged to apply to help shape mental health services that fit every student’s needs.
AWARE seeks to empower students with the skills necessary to better manage distresses such as stress, anxiety, and relationship issues through skill-based workshops and presentations. Ambassadors work with the CWC to offer presentations, tabling, as well as larger projects such as UFisAWARE and Gator-2-Gator peer counseling. It is a great opportunity to build leadership, personal, and public speaking skills while also being a part of a supportive and diverse team.

Language Assistant - English Language Institute
Description: Want to gain experience working with international students? The English Language Institute is currently accepting language assistant applications for its Fall C term from August 30th – December 14th. Language assistants act as peer leaders for our English learners and lead outdoor conversational activities for a group of 10-15 international students and also interact with them at fun events! This is a paid student assistant position designed for undergraduate students.

Florida Museum Undergraduate Internship
Description: The Florida Museum is now accepting applications now for the Fall 2023 Florida Museum Undergraduate Internship Program, aimed at reaching UF students from a variety of majors and backgrounds. This award program seeks to support undergraduate students by facilitating their work on museum-based internship projects. Internships are to be focused on gaining experience in collections work, laboratory analysis, and/or fieldwork.
Pay Rate: Awards supporting up to 80 hours of work at $17.00/hr will be funded. We anticipate funding for eight students, with support coming from the Department of Natural History, the Department of Education and Public Programs, and iDigBio.

UF Active Learning Program - Internship & Research Program

Millhopper Montessori School
Description: Millhopper Montessori School (MMS) is accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools and affiliated with the American Montessori Society. The Jalyn Imani Stallworth Internship
Description: The Harn Museum would like to share the following paid internship opportunity for students who are interested in exploring career opportunities in the museum field in the Education or Curatorial Department. The Jalyn Imani Stallworth Internship was established by the family of Jalyn Imani Stallworth to honor her memory and support aspiring curators and museum educators with a focus on diversifying the profession.
Jalyn Imani Stallworth was a 2018 graduate of the University of Florida. She graduated with honors, majoring in African American History with minors in Art History and Anthropology.

Service and Volunteer Opportunities
Balance 180 Summer Camp
Description: Balance 180 summer camp provides a great learning experience for student volunteers. All of our volunteers work 1-1 or 2-1 with the participating campers in various activities, including gymnastics time, crafts, and games. The athletes have a variety of disabilities, including Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, and Cerebral Palsy, among others. The camp will be offered from July 10th to July 28th and will be held Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Volunteers can select the days and hours that they can join us, so that it works for their schedule.

Mentors for Westwood & Howard Bishop Middle School
Description: Our names are Bella and Adrienne and we run an organization here at UF called Women Building Women. We mentor 60+ at risk girls in underserved middle schools here in Gainesville and have had enormous success with our program.
As we formed these relationships with school administrators, we are constantly getting asked the question– do you know any groups that do similar things for male students? This fall, we are hoping to fill the dire need for male mentors in Westwood and/or Howard Bishop Middle School. Female mentors are encouraged to apply through our regular application cycle in September!
Our goal is to start with a small group of 15+ male mentors. They would be subject to a brief interview process before completing 1 hour of training initially and 4 throughout the semester.

Children Beyond Our Borders
Description: Children Beyond Our Borders is a nonprofit organization that runs a variety of programs for our mission to eliminate barriers to education for children locally and in Latin America. The mentorship program, the Triunfadores College Prep Program (CPP), aims to provide educational resources for low-income, migrant, and otherwise disadvantaged K-12 students in Alachua County through weekly, one-on-one tutoring sessions with college students and volunteers.
