Luis Ponjuan (UF Institute for Higher Education)
A research article on the “Vanishing Latino Male,” co-authored by Ponjuan, was cited in the Aug. 11, 2011 edition of the Huffington Post online newsletter headlined “The Hispanic Gender Gap: Can Latinas Save the American Family?” The Huff Post cited an excerpt from a paper published by the Journal of Hispanic Higher Education, in which Ponjuan and co-author Victor Saenz from the University of Texas at Austin warn, “Latino male students are ‘vanishing’ from the American education pipeline” . . . Ponjuan also was the primary source for a story on the Latino dropout rate in the June 21 issue of NEA Today, the website of the National Education Association.
