Ponjuan, assistant professor of educational administration and director of UF’s Institute for Higher Education, was quoted in the Sept. 25, 2011 issue of the online Chronicle of Higher Education in an article titled “Educators Start Early to Create a College-Going Culture Among Hispanics in Texas.” He said Hispanic children will face pressure from friends who insist that college is a waste of time and encouraged parents to keep talking with their children about the pressures they will face.
