In a Gainesville Sun article headlined “Disparity in FCAT scores a result of many factors,” Professor Miller was quoted saying lower scores can be attributed to shifting standards. This year, for the first time, the test was graded on a scale with higher standards, and performance scores from ESE students were added to the equation.
