Major: Anthropology

Minor: UFTeach Science and Theater

I have always loved working with children which led to working at a day care center for a summer, becoming a counselor for Camp Kesem UF, and pursuing a minor in teaching with UFTeach. My summer spent at that day care center would have to be my most memorable teaching experience. It was a center for children with “special needs” because they were diagnosed with dwarfism or a heart condition at the tender age of 6 (for example) but to me these kids were special because of their personalities and actions not because of the classification they’d been given. I am interning at Florida Museum of Natural History for the summer working as a Public Programs Intern. Essentially I am creating curriculum guides for our summer programs: 7 weeks of camp for K-6. I am excited to participate in the various camps with the kids because each week is a new program and crazy activities to go along with them. The NOYCE Program has given me an opportunity to continue with my minor during the summer and gain experience in in the field.
