I’ve always loved science, space, and the Earth. I became inspired to teach my senior year of high school while taking an astronomy class; it was the first time I was extremely eager to learn and I knew I’d be happy teaching astronomy or earth science (or really any science). I also had a really great astronomy teacher that inspired me to teach.

As far as my internship goes, I am an intern at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida. I work with the educational department in working with school children, and starting June, I will be working with the summer camps. I love working here because Mote Marine is right next to Sarasota Bay; I get to learn more about marine science and I get to enjoy the water and sun every single day!

The Noyce program shows me how important informal STEM education is and, by working at More Marine, how great field trips are for school children in learning science. I’ve been given the amazing opportunity to learn more about marine science in such an interactive and fun way!
