2017 International Week at the College of Education – November 13-17, 2017
COE Community – You are cordially invited to celebrate the 2017 International Week at the College of Education. UF International Week is being held from November 13 through 17.

We are featuring three days of events starting with a Faculty and Doctoral Student Panel, followed by an International Festival including food, music, and dance, and a film viewing and discussion of the acclaimed documentary: He Named Me Malala.  Please see flyer for details. Spring 2018 Student Internship – deadline is Thursday, November 9 by midnight
The Child & Youth Program at Peaceful Paths is looking for interns and student volunteers for the spring and summer semesters. Peaceful Paths is a certified domestic violence agency for the tri-county area. Many children are often affected by violence in their homes, our Child & Youth Program is dedicated to providing a variety free and confidential services to address their needs. The center provides our interns and volunteers with many opportunities for growth and learning in areas such as child welfare, victim advocacy, and primary prevention. We also go out into the community and work with youth from elementary to high school with curriculum focused on healthy friendships, relationships, and intimate partner violence prevention. Berkeley Academy Teaching Internship – deadline is Wednesday, December 6

Yucai Chinese School
We are a licensed local after-school care provider. Our students are from K to Grade 5. Most of them are American born Chinese and they use both languages. We currently have strong support for our students to practice Chinese language in our program. We would like our students to work more on their Math and do some STEM relevant activities next semester. Currently we are recruiting for a part-time teacher as a tutor in Math. We will have all the materials prepared and the teacher just need to assist the students to finish practicing the materials and keep a record of their work. Looking for Highly Qualified and Certified Teachers to work at the new center in Spring Hill, FL. UF America Reads
Currently hiring tutors for the Spring 2018 semester. America Reads is a Federal Work Study program that provides literacy tutoring to at-risk students in elementary schools and community centers in the local Gainesville community. Paid positions starting at $10/hour are available for students enrolled at the University of Florida who are eligible to receive Federal Work Study as a form of financial aid. Tutors must be available at least 3 days per week for a combined minimum of 8-10 hours per week. Camp Counselors for Camp Lochearn (Post Mills, Vermont)

BACKPACKING WITH A PURPOSE: 2018 APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN!
Operation Groundswell is a non-profit organization that runs volunteering programs abroad. We examine various social justice issues while working in solidarity with local activists, non-profit organizations, and communities. We are looking for globally conscious and socially active students who want to spend their summer exploring some of the most complex and beautiful countries in the world!

If you’re into cultural exchange, meaningful community service, and off-the-beaten path adventure, apply by November 22nd! Programs are filling up quickly so apply as soon as possible. Financial assistance is available for our 5-6 week programs.

Childcare – Tutoring

Babysitter needed for the Spring Semester on Mondays 5:45-7:30 PM and Wednesdays 5-7:30 PM. Sitter will pickup from after care, bring her home, heat up dinner, start homework. UF Community Tutoring Program
UF is proud to offer resources like Tutor Matching Service to provide supplemental one-on-one tutoring to students. As a courtesy to students seeking individual assistance for students, the University of Florida provides a link to Tutor Matching Service (TMS) where students can register to receive private tutoring for payment. Students with academic aptitude in a given subject or subjects may also sign up to become a tutor as part of this service.  Tutoring can take place in person or online through the digital GoBoard system depending on the preferences and abilities of the tutor and tutee.
