FREE GRE WORKSHOPS
The UF Teaching Center offers this workshop Monday through Thursday, February 19-22, from 5-7 p.m. each day. The Math sessions are Monday & Wednesday, and the Verbal sessions are Tuesday and Thursday. You can register for just the math sessions, just the verbal sessions, or all four. Go to www.teachingcenter.ufl.edu, then “study skills” then “workshops” to register and learn the workshop location.


University of Florida Dietary Intake Study – Undergraduate Students
I am a masters student in the Food Science and Human Nutrition department conducting an IRB approved study (study number: IRB201702863) assessing dietary intake of fruits and vegetables and eating behaviors in University of Florida students. To be eligible to participate, you must be a current University of Florida undergraduate student between the ages of 18-29. It is an online survey that will take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete.

Research Funding Opportunity for UF Undergraduate and Graduate Students
Applications are invited from students of all majors for the Mary M. James Student Inspiration Fund opportunity, which was established to support student-created projects relating to the mission of the Harn Museum of Art.

· Awards: $250-$1,000
· Deadline: March 20, 2018
· Application difficulty: light paperwork, requires one faculty letter of reference and advance contact with a Harn staff member.
· Examples of past projects:
o An evaluation study of object interactions undertaken in the museum.
o A film on the impact of climate change on Alaskan native populations, which related to an upcoming Harn exhibition.

Student Employment Position
Position available for advanced undergraduate or graduate students to assist with project activities for Embedded Instruction California, an outreach project to adapt, pilot, and evaluate professional development on strategies for supporting preschool teachers to embed instruction for young children with disabilities in ongoing activities and routines in early childhood classrooms. The student would assist the project coordinator with data entry and video coding. Knowledge of EXCEL, attention to detail, reliability, flexibility, and maintaining confidentiality are important qualifications. Experience with preschool curricula and children ages 3-5 in classroom settings is preferred. The position is an hourly position that is available immediately through the Summer A semester and may include additional semesters pending performance. A minimum of 10 hours per week is required. Students will be paid $10-$12/hour, depending on experience. The position includes a brief orientation, training, and ongoing supervision by the project coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in professional development, coaching, or instructional approaches in early childhood and would like to gain experience in research. Rock Hill Schools Teacher Recruitment Fair (Rock Hill, SC) – Saturday, February 24, 8:30am – 12:30pm

Gators in Motion
Aces in Motion is offering a fantastic volunteer opportunity for students through our on-campus program called Gators in Motion! Gators in Motion (GIM) is a program that brings underserved middle and high school students onto campus in order to provide them with one-on-one tutoring, recreation, enrichment, life skills lessons, and field trip opportunities. We are looking for Department of Education students who can act as tutors and mentors to our students. The program takes place Monday- Thursday from 3:45- 6:15 in the Florida Gym. Students will be asked not to use their cell phones during programming time in order to be engaged and a role model to the students. Your main role will be a motivator to the students, encouraging them to get their grades up and to work hard during homework time. Gator Junior Golf Association
If you love kids and are looking for a way to get involved, then consider volunteering with the Gator Junior Golf Association, Gainesville’s only non-profit junior golf program! As a volunteer, you would be mentoring and helping kids ages 5-14 to develop both golf skills and life skills that can be used on and off the course. Only basic golf knowledge is required. Do you want to make a difference in a child’s life?

Then join the Winning Reading Boost Volunteer Team!  For just an hour a week, you can volunteer at Metcalfe or Idylwilde Elementary School beginning January. Through the span of 90 days, volunteers will embark on a journey with 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students as they guide struggling readers through an engaging, 36-step learning experience that guarantees reading fluency.

Special Needs Resource Expo – Saturday, January 27, 2018, 12-3pm
The event is on Saturday, January 27th 12-3pm at Celebration UMC on Archer Road (9501 SW Archer Rd, 32608)

Volunteers needed for the following:

Friday, January 26th (6-9pm) – Help with room setup (physical work)
Saturday, January 27th (9am-12pm) – Last minute setup and helping vendors locate/setup their tables
Saturday, January 27th (12-3pm) – During the event (usher & breaks) – usher people to the area they are looking for and give the lone vendors breaks (watch the items at their table and let people know the vendor will be back soon)
Saturday, January 27th (3pm – ?) – Break down and clean up (physical work)

During this event, volunteers will get to meet all kinds of resources in our area that work with educating children. The Alachua County Council of PTAs, Pre K ESE department of education, Pace Center for Girls, and so many more will be attending. Childcare & Tutoring

Childcare needed
Requirements:
Safe driving record, good references, non-smoker, and reliable car. Duties: Pick up 2 middle school girls (7th graders ages 12), going to Westwood Middle School after school and taking them both home. No help with homework or babysitting. Only transportation from school to home Monday-Friday. Hours would be Mon-Friday pickup at Westwood Middle School at 3:30 p.m. Please contact Sherry Moore at 352-316-3478 or email scook66436@cox.net. Start time would be ASAP. Pay is $70 a week (5 days) or $14 per day.
