Course Announcement: EDG 6931 Theorizing Race & Racism in Educational Research with Dr. Christopher Busey
Drawing from diverse and global theorizations of race, this primer course aims to 1) explore several critical theorizations of race that are prominently featured and in some cases neglected in educational research; 2) trace the socio-historical foundations and transnational parallels of several theorizations of race; and 3) draw from our developing understandings of theories of race and racism to frame educational inequities. Education/Training Specialist II
Description: Dr. Joni Splett is looking for a Project Coordinator to work on Project RISE (Reducing Inequities in the School Environment), a five-year study funded by the National Institutes of Health. The position is full-time with benefits with continuation dependent upon the availability of funding and satisfactory performance. The Project Coordinator will assist Dr. Splett in managing the research project in collaboration with the Medical University of South Carolina, University of South Carolina, and Duval County Public Schools.
Responsibilities: Duties include managing evaluation activities, coordinating communication between investigators and school district personnel, managing IRB protocol and revisions with UF as IRB of record, leading and coordinating involvement of graduate and undergraduate students in data collection and project implementation efforts, supporting online data collection and database management, and supporting development of implementation materials and trainings. The position will require periodic grant-reimbursed travel to middle schools in Duval County for data collection and training.

Tomorrow’s Youth Organization Internship

Tomorrow’s Youth Organization, an American nonprofit working with disadvantaged communities in Palestine, is currently recruiting international interns for a three-month internship from mid-September until mid-December! The application deadline is July 22nd, 2019.
This internship, based in the West Bank city of Nablus, offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain international working experience and develop professional and intercultural skills. Balance 180 Summer Camp Volunteers
Volunteers needed for Balance 180’s summer camp from July 15 – August 2! Volunteers can join in the morning from 8:00am-12:30pm or in the afternoon from 12:30pm-5:30pm; however, these times can be adjusted to the volunteer’s schedule! No gymnastics experience is required to volunteer. Volunteers can sign up for any week or specific days: whatever works for your schedule! Most help is needed in the mornings.

Adaptive Gymnastics Class Volunteers
Volunteers needed for gymnastics class until August 3! This is a gymnastics class that is specifically designed for children with varying abilities. We set up the gym in 4 rotations, including vault, floor, beam, and bars, so that our athletes can work on a variety of motor skills.
