Envision Career Academy Applications
Applications are open NOW for Envision Career Academy! Envision Career Academy is a four-week virtual cohort designed to help you develop your identity as a black professional. Selected participants will be assigned a UF alumni mentor and attend various workshops addressing career related issues important to the black community. Topics include: Imposter Syndrome, Professional Branding, Social Capital, and Self-Advocacy.
Workshops will be held virtually each Tuesday in July from 3-4:30 p.m. with additional meeting opportunities to connect with your mentor and participate in group activities. This program is targeted towards juniors and seniors but is open to all black UF students. Apply now to prepare for your next steps, build valuable life-long connections and develop your career along the way. Course Announcement: EDG 6931 Theorizing Race & Racism in Educational Research
Drawing from diverse and global theorizations of race, this primer course aims to 1) explore several critical theorizations of race that are prominently featured and in some cases neglected in educational research; 2) trace the socio-historical foundations and transnational parallels of several theorizations of race; and 3) draw from our developing understandings of theories of race and racism to frame enduring educational concerns. Education Specialist/Nanny Needed
Description: A nanny and education specialist is needed for two children, ages 2 and 4. This is a two physician family with one parent recently diagnosed with cancer. Both children will be at home and will not need to be transported anywhere. Both grandmothers will also be at home helping with the cleaning, cooking, and laundry. A typical day of work includes light meal prep, creative playing, and working (specifically with the 4 year old) on academics as the children cannot attend school this year due to the parent’s cancer treatments. Academic activities would focus on letter and color recognition, writing, and early reading skills in preparation for entry into Kindergarten next year. Academic, activity, and craft planning is needed. A bachelor’s degree with a focus on child development is preferred. Must be non-smoking and have reliable transportation. Finally, will need to be able to follow basic sanitation rules of the house due the parent’s cancer treatments.
Payment: The job would pay by the hour at a rate of 18$/hour. This may be subject to change based on the ultimate needs of the children and family.
