Are you interested in gardening, community, and volunteer service? This course is ideal for students interested in home gardening, community gardening, community development, public health, public education, Extension, urban sociology, urban landscape design, and sustainability. The Florida Master Gardener Program trains UF/IFAS Extension volunteers to provide horticultural education to residents and communities. Students will learn, horticulture, integrated pest management, plant pathology, and garden planning. This online class is composed of digital lectures, discussion, and hands-on activities. Description: Are you ready to gain real-world experience and advance your writing? College Magazine’s professional writing program is a 4-month commitment that includes a 7-week intensive training where you’ll uncover your voice, interview dream sources and write meaningful articles that readers love. Writers who succeed in the first 4 months often continue into our editorial internship program. Working closely with our editors, writers receive one-on-one feedback. Writers also learn social media, WordPress HTML, and the SEO knowledge necessary for the real world of magazine journalism.
Schedule: The writer position is 10 hours a week on a flexible schedule. It’s a volunteer, intensive and challenging writing experience. Our graduates have gone on to careers at Vox, NBC, USA Today, Redbook, National Geographic, Random House and more. We welcome applicants from all majors and all colleges. Long-Term Babysitter
Description: We are looking for a long-term babysitter (at least one year). We have three daughters: 9-year-old, 7-year-old and 1-year-old. Before the pandemic, we always had a babysitter helping us drive the two older girls to school in the morning, take them to after-school activities (ballet, swimming, etc.), and watch our little one while I prepare dinner. Due to COVID 19, lots of things (kids school schedule and activity schedule) are still up in the air. The public school will open on 8/31. Before school starts, I need someone to watch our little one during the day, so I can arrange homework for the two school age girls and do house chores. I will take as much help as you can offer. After school starts, I will need you to watch the little one in the afternoon (from 4 to 8) and couple hours in the mornings if you can. I might also need help with pick-up and drop-off my school age girls.

Online Math Tutor & Academic Coach for Teen
Description: Looking for a UF upper level or graduate student to be a private online math tutor and academic skills coach for a 10th grade full-time online student (Alachua eSchool). The math tutoring would be in Honors Algebra I and Geometry. All curriculum is provided through Florida Virtual School (flvs.net). Academic skills coaching would include how to establish a routine, prioritize, and break down tasks.
Where: The job would be conducted virtually through Zoom.
When: The 2020-21 school year starting ASAP for about 10 hours per week. The schedule is flexible, with breaks for school holidays.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal applicant would have a background in special education, counseling, or psychology, have experience teaching teens, and be understanding and motivating. Applicant may be asked for a resume and references.

Elementary School Facilitator & Tutor
Description: Looking for a student to facilitate digital school offered by Alachua County Public Schools for a 1st and 4th grader at their home during the Fall semester, which begins August 24th. Facilitation will happen at the children’s home in Newberry (Town of Tioga) just west of Gainesville. Parent is a UF professor. The curriculum and live online instruction will be delivered by the children’s assigned public school. Facilitator will provide additional support and tutoring as needed.
