Course Announcement: ALS 3110 Collegiate Master Gardener (Extension for Home and Community Gardens)
The Florida Master Gardener Program trains UF/IFAS Extension volunteers to provide horticultural education to residents and communities. Students will receive training to become a Master Gardener, and learn, horticulture, Integrated Pest Management, plant pathology, and garden planning. This online class is composed of digital lectures, discussion, and hands-on activities. After completing this course, students will be qualified to become a Florida Master Gardener. To pursue this, gardeners must work through the State Master Gardener Office and their County Extension Office within two years, identifying any formal steps to take for certification and contributing 75 volunteer hours and 10 learning hours within the first year of training. Kindergarten Tutor & Nanny
Description: Seeking a nanny to pick up my five year old from school M-F and bring him home to play until the end of the work day. Given the concerns with COVID-19 and the potential for disruption to in-person school options, I would love to find someone who has flexibility to extend hours in the event that schools or classrooms close. Occasional care of both children (five year old and his two year old brother) may be necessary if the two year old’s daycare is closed. Flexibility is key, as is energy for lots of pretend play and enthusiasm for teaching and facilitating creativity. The candidate must have their own transportation and the ability to install car seats for transportation from school to home. Both parents work for UF: Mom is a faculty member in counselor education and dad is a physician at Shands.
When: Starting August 10 through fall semester 2020. Regular hours would be 1:50 PM – 5 PM M, T, Th, and Fr, and 12:30 PM – 5:00 PM on Wednesdays (or to correspond with public school dismissals). Homeschool Teacher & Tutor
Description: Looking for two to three students interested in home schooling 10 – 12 third and fourth graders this fall. The lesson plans will be already created by the county.
