Hello EduGators! EduGator Central Student Services is now accepting applications for our newly established COE Student Advisory Council. The purpose of this council is to strengthen the student voice by providing feedback, consultation, and guidance on matters of importance and concern within the College of Education. The council will be comprised of students equally representing the three schools of our college, and they will be tasked with weighing in on department issues and questions about curriculum, diversity, student experience, and more. The Science Coalition’s Fund It Forward Student Video Challenge
The Science Coalition — a nonprofit, nonpartisan group of more than 50 research universities — invites undergraduate and graduate students to tell stories about their institution’s research through its Fund It Forward Student Video Challenge. The winning submissions will be used to promote federally funded research with members of Congress.
The 60- to 90-second videos will be judged on how well they convey the excitement and potential of science, illustrate a personal interest in research and how it could impact people, and explain why continued federal support for fundamental research is critical to the nation’s future.
First place winners will receive $1,000, second place winners will receive $750, and third place winners will receive $500. Graduate and undergraduate submissions will be judged separately. The winner of the People’s Choice Award, which is open to both graduates and undergraduates, will receive $500. The deadline for submissions is October 18. SKY at UF
SKY is a registered student organization at the University of Florida and a chapter of the International Association for Human Values (IAHV). Caregiver
Description: We’re looking to hire an individual (female) to work with a developmentally disabled woman as a caregiver. The client lives in a supported living setting (an apartment) and requires assistance with a wide range of normal supports to enable her to stay in the apartment safely and includes, but not limited to, minimal cooking with client, accessing activities/events in the community, accompanying her to school/volunteer sites, assisting in homework, basic upkeep of the apartment and staying overnight with her to ensure her safety. Schedules are flexible and can be negotiated based on the individual availability.
The individual has to have a high school diploma, one year of experience in working (or volunteering) with the disabled, elderly, or children. Will need a valid driver license, car registration and car insurance. Also, two employer references (any). Having a vehicle to transport client is a must.

Description: Children Beyond Our Borders, a non-profit based in Gainesville, FL is looking for volunteers for the Triunfadores College Prep Program. After School Childcare
Description: We are looking for a responsible, reliable, and experienced person to provide after-school care for a 4yo (Pre-K) and 7yo (2nd grade) in Northwest Gainesville (Suburban Heights). We hope to find someone who can pick the girls up from school (Brentwood School and Littlewood Elementary) at ~1.30-2.00pm and provide care until 4.30pm each weekday*. You would primarily watch the kids in our home but outings (e.g., park, museum, zoo) are definitely welcomed. We are offering $200/week.
The two adults in our home are vaccinated against COVID-19 and our children will be vaccinated as soon as the option is available to them. We always wear masks when we go inside public spaces and take reasonable precautions to keep our unvaccinated kids safe. We would expect our childcare provider to do the same.
*Please note: We will consider hiring someone who cannot provide transportation home from school for the kids as long as you have a reliable way to be at our house by 2pm. We would also consider someone to work fewer days each week if every day is not an option. We can work together to negotiate a pay rate in these situations.

Elementary School Online Tutor
Description: Elementary School Tutor needed to supplement existing coursework in 3rd and 5th grade reading and mathematics and homework complexities. Need creative exercises focusing on reading comprehension including point of view and main idea assessment. Mathematics focus should use common core math including algebra. Each semester, my undergraduate research methods students undertake an original data collection research project focused on improving the justice system. This semester, we are examining police—community interactions by exploring perceptions of undergraduate students on campus police sponsored outreach events. Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program
Description: The Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program Collaborative is a two-year conservation training program for undergraduates who are interested in careers in conservation and in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field. Scholars take part in applied field research projects (1st Summer – 2021), professional internships (2nd Summer – 2022), mentoring, and form strong professional networks that span the country (and beyond). Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowships
Description: The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowship Program provides opportunities for doctoral candidates to engage in full-time dissertation research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. The program is designed to deepen research knowledge and increase the study of modern foreign languages, cultural engagement, and area studies not generally included in U.S. curricula.
Program Features: Students may request funding to support overseas research for a period of no less than six months and no more than 12 months. Funds support travel expenses to and from the residence of the fellow and the country or countries of research; maintenance and dependent allowances based on the location of research for the fellow and his or her dependent(s); an allowance for research-related expenses overseas; and health and accident insurance premiums. Projects may focus on one or more of the following geographic areas: Africa, East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, South Asia, the Near East, Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia, and the Western Hemisphere (excluding the United States and its territories).

UF IFAS Summer Internship with Cedar Key School K-12 Education
Description: This internship is intended to give undergraduate students at UF an opportunity for real-world experience in education and/or extension activities. Selected students will work alongside local K-12 youth from Cedar Key School. The hosts include UF/IFAS faculty as well as Cedar Key K-12 educators. Interns will participate in a summer wrap- up workshop where interns will summarize their experiences. This is a great opportunity for students to enhance their skill sets and explore career options in educational natural resource fields. This internship is open to current undergraduates from the College of Education, University of Florida.
Pay Rate: This internship is 240 paid work hours for a total of six weeks, and interns are paid $12.00 per hour for up to 40 hours a week.

Camp Laurel South Summer Camp
About Camp Laurel South: Camp Laurel South is located near Portland, Maine in the heart of the Sebago Lakes Region. Its 150 unspoiled acres include woodlands, sports fields and open lawns. It’s location in the southern part of Maine makes Laurel South a most inviting summer retreat for campers and counselors alike. Each summer, Laurel South operates two four-week programs with 400 boys and girls, ages 7 to 15 in each session. They come from all over the U.S. as well as several foreign countries. The return rate for both campers and staff is very high.
Description: Camp Laurel South is a residential summer camp in Maine seeking college athletes to be activity instructors and camp counselors for the summer of 2021. This is a great summer experience that can fulfill many internship requirements. We look for people with personality, character, maturity, professional training, experience and most importantly, a sincere desire to work with children. Our counselor to camper ratio is better than 1:3.

Description: Florida Elks Youth Summer Camp is hiring staff members and camp counselors! This summer program will go from June 13th 2021 to August 7th 2021.
