It is the student’s responsibility to ensure all requirements have been met and every deadline is observed. Failure to do so will result in delaying graduation.
Term Prior to Graduation

- Submit Graduation Checklist
Term in Which You Graduate
- Register for a minimum of 3 credits (fall or spring) or 2 credits (summer). Fellows must be registered for credits appropriate for fellowship requirements. Students completing theses must be registered for 6971, and students completing dissertations must be registered for 7980 for minimum number of credits.
- Follow the Critical Dates by Term.
- Follow the UF Graduation Checklist.
- Complete the UF Degree Application Form.
- Schedule Department Exit Interview/Dissertation Defense.
- Confirm your name and contact information with Registrar.
- Clear all financial or academic holds. Students cannot graduate with E or I grades on transcript, any outstanding financial obligations, including fines, library fees, or parking tickets.
- Stay in touch with Counselor Ed support staff during the degree certification process in the week prior to and following commencement. If your degree is not certified, staff will need to contact you.
- Students attending Commencement ceremonies should order regalia through the UF Bookstore, reserve hotel reservations early, and Beta Chapter members may order Chi Sigma Iota graduation regalia.
