I am looking to employ someone to assist with transportation and after-school homework help for my son starting in August. He is 16 y/o and has Asperger’s Syndrome. There may be additional hours available over the summer to get to know him while transporting him to and from his Occupational Therapy appointments and assisting with a summer English project. This is a paid position with a gas allowance. Amount of time per week varies but is about 1-3 hours per day depending on amount of homework during the school year. University Press of Florida Internship
University Press of Florida at UF is seeking interns for the fall semester in the areas of acquisitions, editing, design, production, marketing, sales, and advertising. PACE Internship Opportunity
The PACE Center for Girls Internship Program offers a small group of outstanding students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to non-profit management. Call for Summer Plunge Participants!
Summer Plunge is a single-day service project where volunteers will branch out into various areas of Gainesville to participate in exciting service projects. Volunteers can participate in a variety of services that range from working with animals, working with the elderly, alleviating environmental issues and many more interesting activities. Please consider participating in this event and making a positive impact on the Gainesville community. The event will take place on July 23rd from 8am to 1pm.

Site leaders gain important leadership and facilitation experiences and are essential for the success of Summer Plunge! EDG 6017: Writing for Academic Purposes (Fall, 2016)
This seminar is designed to enhance the capacity of advanced graduate students from all academic disciplines to write for academic purposes. It guides students through the entire process of academic writing, which includes understanding the task at hand, planning the work, conducting library research, reading to gather information, developing audience awareness, appropriating discursive resources, working with other people’s ideas and voices, and using feedback and editing to improve writing. The course focuses on exploring the ways in which language is used as a creative resource for presenting information, structuring text, embedding perspectives, developing argument, referencing sources, and addressing audience needs in academic writing. It combines focused discussion of key features of and issues in academic writing with practical applications through critical analysis of model essays as well as thoughtful critique of students’ own writing. The course also provides an insider’s perspective on writing for scholarly publications, including journal/publisher selection, manuscript review process, overcoming rejections, and other tips for getting published. EDH 6931: Data Management & Analysis for Education Policy Research
This course introduces students to useful data sources, analytical techniques, and data management (STATA) tools for conducting policy-relevant research in higher education. Students will learn: 1) strategies for accessing and managing publicly available higher education data; 2) a variety of analytical techniques for evaluating the efficacy of policy alternatives; and 3) tools to manage complex data within the STATA data analysis and statistical software. Graduate Course – The College Student
Much of higher education research revolves around understanding the students who enroll at colleges and universities across the country every year, but what do we already know about college students, their changes over time, and the specific influence of certain college experiences on their outcomes? Scholars have explored issues around who the “typical” college student is and whether college actually shapes students’ lives, learning, and development. This course examines the demographic similarities and differences in college students, important educational and societal outcomes which stem from higher education, and the environments which influence students’ likelihood of reaching their academic, social, and career goals. EDG 6931 Mobile Technologies in Education
Mobile technologies have become ubiquitous and provide access to information and learning materials for anyone, anyplace. In what ways are these technologies currently being used to teach and to learn in formal and informal environments? This course explores national and international perspectives on mobile technologies based on case studies of different ways in which mobile technologies (tablets, wearables, Google glass) are currently being used in schools, in various disciplines in higher education, and for informal learning. Students will identify common strategies used for teaching with mobile technology and how these are adapted based on socio-political, economic, and educational contexts. 3 credit online course.
