African Americans in Paris | Spring 2020 AFA 4905
Dr. Sharon Austin, Professor of Political Science, will provide information about her African Americans in Paris class in the large conference room of the UF International Center (located in the Hub down the hall from Starbucks) on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 3pm. Before we leave for Paris, the class will have to watch online lectures and documentaries and write three 3-4 page papers. In Paris, we will visit a number of historic sites of significance to African Americans. Please contact Dr. Austin at polssdw.ufl.edu for more information or see the course information. The Disability Resource Center invites UF students, faculty, and staff to join us in celebrating Disability Advocacy Month. Fessenden Elementary School Support Facilitator
Description: Fessenden Elementary School in Marion County is searching for a Support Facilitator that will work in regular education classrooms supporting students with disabilities. Hope Panhandle in Panama City Beach, FL
After Hurricane Michael pummeled through the Florida Panhandle, a group of local volunteers established the non-profit, Hope Panhandle, committed to offering relief and recovery to the Panhandle. What began as serving meals and offering items of necessity quickly transitioned into rebuilding construction efforts assisting people who have found little to no hope of moving “back home” due to the storm’s devastation. If you are interested in rebuilding homes for families who have been impacted by natural disaster, then this is the trip for you!

www.ServeGNV.org is a community service one-stop-shop tool for the Gainesville area. This may be helpful to students pursuing education, and education-related fields.
This tool allows you to (1) register as a “team” of volunteers or as an individual, (2) look for opportunities that match your personal interests, (3) work together to give back to our community, and (4) log the hours you complete! Attached is a flyer that you can feel free to share with your students. We also have other promotional materials that we can provide for you to distribute, if that would be helpful.

Description: We are seeking a tutor for our 1st grader. Bright child, but currently struggling with math. Knows how to add and subtract, but has trouble understanding what the problems are asking as well as some issues with number recognition.
