We love UF Homecoming. The week is filled with so many events, it can be hard to keep count. From the pageant that recognizes outstanding Gators to the Gator Gallop, a two-mile homecoming fun run, to Festival, a family-friendly carnival-style event, there are events for past, present and future Gators.
The Education Library is scheduled to re-open August 20. This will be a welcome addition back to the Norman village, just in time for the fall semester.
Old Norman Hall is officially closed and the rehabilitation work has begun. Before any construction could start, we had to move everything out… EVERYTHING. Including things we didn’t think about.
The Education Library renovation project has been long in the making. Since opening in 1980, the only updates to the library were the addition of study rooms a few summers ago, meaning that it has been difficult to cater to the rapid advances in technology and, ultimately, the faculty and students who are constant patrons.
Although some light infrastructure work has already begun, the UF College of Education welcomed guests to a formal groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, March 23, marking the official start of the heavier work on the long-awaited rehabilitation of historic Norman Hall.
Our first significant parking challenge related to construction is about to happen. Please be advised that the small parking lot on the northeast side of Norman near the credit union (corner of SW 5th Avenue and SW 12th Street) will be mostly closed soon. Green construction fencing will be installed in most of the parking lot and the lot will be inaccessible.
